MP3 files are very difficult to loop.
The biggest disadvantage of using MP3 files is that they require MP3 player programs.
Once you enter a website with MP3 background music, your Windows Media player or Real Player might open automatically to play the file.
WAV
The best sound file format in terms of quality is the WAV file format.
Using WAV format to record your audio will give you recording studio quality audio.
The BIG PROBLEM of WAV is its file size. Even with a DSL or cable internet connection, your browser will have a hard time loading a web page using WAV for its audio stream.
Familiarity with flash files is an advantage when trying to incorporate audio streams into your website.
To make the music play continuously, you will have to perform the process of looping.
Flash files can be used with either MP3 or WAV but, only WAV files go through the looping process without any difficulty.
As you can see there are many different ways to add background music to your web pages and you don't have to worry about slow loading pages if you choose the right file format.
