My "Secret Weapons" for writing engaging content.

Hey there, WA Family!!!!!

I haven't contributed anything for a while, because I've been busily adding content to my site. I hope everyone's kicking goals all over the joint and having a great time learning new skills! I know I am!!!! Hey Kyle, I dunno if you'll even see this, but thanks buddy. You and Carson have really built a helluva community here and I'm really loving my WA experience so far!

Ok, so I thought I'd briefly drop by and share a few of my secret weapons for writing blog content. While I've been checking out a couple of sites lately, I've noticed some content has been a little clunky to read. While that's totally understandable as we learn new skills, I have a few tricks that will hopefully expedite everyone's arrival in "Great Content Country". You ready? Here we go.....

  • Most importantly, you MUST know your niche. Don't select your niche based on how much money you reckon you can make from it. That's a deadset recipe for disaster. Somewhere along the way, someone is going to read your content who IS really knowledgeable in your niche and that person will call you on it. It will show if you don't know your niche inside and out. So, pick your niche based on what you're passionate about and knowledgeable in.
  • If you write in a conversational manner you can't go wrong! I write like I'm talking to my best friend, Lisa. I guess you could say she's my muse. She's pretty much the Yin to my Yang and I'm a shell without her. If I'm writing and I can hear her laughing in my head, I know I've nailed it.
  • Address your readers as though you're addressing an individual. It will make your content resonate more with your readers if you talk TO them, rather than AT them. If you write like you're addressing a massive group of people, you'll miss that crucial opportunity to connect with your reader. Connecting with your readers will help convert your traffic into sales, as you build a trustworthy impression and make them feel as though they know you. Remember, back in the early Certification modules, Kyle was very clear in pointing out that we are connecting with PEOPLE? Yep. That was probably one of THE most important pearls of wisdom he taught us.
  • Grammar - check your grammar. In the eyes of your readers, poor grammar = poor knowledge. If english is your second language, run your post through a spelling and grammar checker before publishing. A quick and relatively easy way to do this, is to copy and paste your post into a Word document, so you can run it through its checker - from what I can tell, WordPress doesn't appear to have one.... Or maybe I've had a "man's look"??? Unfortunately, native english speakers can be rather parochial and unforgiving when it comes to simple grammatical errors. People can be real buttholes sometimes.

I hope these few points have helped! If I can help you guys further, please let me know. I'd love to give back to the community any way I can.
