The three most expensive words in the world
What is that supposed to be, you might ask yourself?
You probably know these three words and use them one time or another without thinking about it. What are these three words?
I KNOW THAT
In my view, they express ignorance and arrogance. When you sit in a lecture and the lecturer says something interesting, you often hear: I already know that. Be sure that the person who claims this often has no idea. See for yourself what the numbers of learning actually look like.
Prof. Ebbinghaus found out:
After 20min. You can only call up 60% of the text that you have read after 60 minutes. 45% and after one day 34%. After 6 days you are at 23%. And 15% of the read remains permanently available.
Wow, great and what am I supposed to do with it? Maybe you will ask me now.
It should encourage you to always be open to knowledge and learning. When you read a book, it doesn't do you much good. If you really want to benefit from the knowledge, reading the book is not enough. You have to study it. I really mean studying.
Did you maybe read a certain book a second time? What did you notice?
Right, you found new things that you didn't see the first time. And that's the most important thing I want to tell you. If you have an interesting book, don't read it, but study it. Take a pen and paint everything important. Write ideas down either at the end of the book or on a piece of paper. And when you're through read it again. It is not important how many books you read, but many books you have studied.
I read few weeks a Book from Bodo Schäfer, a famous German Money Coach. I had read it a long time ago. I learned and applied a lot of his advises. But when I started reading, I was impressed and surprised, that I hadn´t keep important topics in the book.
So wrote this advice to study books, first of all, for my self. I should use it myself.
Have a great week
