Hey everyone, while we are getting pumped up and raring to go for 2014,

As I am still very new to IM I have often been perplexed about the seemingly limited options of what i could do with my website.

I think you might be talking about the widgets if you are talking about the different things showing up on your side bar like archives, recent comments, calender, etc. If you go under appearance -> widgets that will allow you to move things around the side bars and any other area that your particular theme allows widgets to be. This might be of some help for ya, its part of a three part tutorial but he links to the other ones in the training https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/wordpress-dashboard-tutorial-widgets
You were right about it being the widgets, i kind of went through the options & then noticed it was a case of drag & drop again (as in drop down menus). Then after that it made sense of how to get my columns sorted out.

ok that is good to know. Were you able to change your theme easily or did you have to rebuild your website?
you can change the theme without having to rebuild your website. The only thing to remember is that different themes have different layouts and options so your content and images, etc. might be in different places from one theme to the next. This just means that you might have to put a little work into rearranging everything how you like it. I would always back up your site before doing a major revamp of content.
I remember someone also suggesting that you can set up a dummy siterubix site where you can upload your current theme and see how it changes when you swap from one theme to the next. This way at least you have an idea of what you will need to tweak so you can get your live site back in order more efficiently.
Certain themes i tried played havoc with my posts & style of content, as in some cases the font turned larger or smaller & made my posts became very choppy to look at.as the text no longer fitted neatly around my pics.
But i found that you can always return back to your original theme with minimum effort. I think i got lucky with the theme i ended up on; as the font was a great size & the theme gave me the widgets as well as other things i was looking for.
