One social media marketing tip I stand by is this: If your content only exists because trend told you to post it, you are already behind. I see so many brands and creators planning their entire strategy around what is trending that wek, instead of asking whether the content actually makes sense for them. Trends move fast, but a brand voice doesn't. When everyrhing you post is reactive, your audience never learns who you are, they just learn that you are online.

I have learned that trends work best when they are treated as a framework, not a script. The moment I stopped copying formats exactly and started adapting them to my own tone, my own opinoons and my own way of communicating, the content felt lighter and more intentional. It stopped feeling like I was chasing something and started feeling like I was building something recognisable. People don’t follow accounts for trends alone. They follow because they connect with the way someone thinks and speaks.

From a marketing perspective, the goal isn’t to post more, it’s to post with clarity. If a trend doesn’t align with your message, values, or audience, forcing it will only dilute your brand. Consistency in voice matters more than consistency in format. When your audience knows what to expect from you, engagement becomes natural rather than manufactured.

At the end of the day, trends will come and go, but a clear point of view compounds. Social media rewards relevance in the moment, but it remembers originality over time. That’s the difference between content that performs once and content that builds something lasting.
