Comments vs Feedback

Hello everyone,

I have noticed lately with the feedback and comment program there has been some confusion. I thought I would explain the difference between the two and things that could be included in each.

First, let's start with the comment

A comment should be positive, it should relate directly to the content that is written and specific to the page that is submitted. When I leave a comment I also like it to direct the sale as well. We are trying to help our colleagues here at WA by guiding their readers in their blog. We should take their readers perspective and try to imagine what they are thinking as they read, as well as any questions they may have.

Here's an Example

"Hello George,

This is a great review and I appreciate how thorough you've been. I think we all have had some experience with scam sites. I think it's a sad affair due to the money people lose as well as the fear it incites in people who are looking for genuine online business's. It took me awhile to find a platform as great as Wealthy Affiliate but since then I've been a member for nine months, and I joined the premium membership in the first week.

I agree with your assessment completely. This is not an overnight business, (and my experience there is no such thing.) But with a little time and hard work there is a lot of potential. You've outlined the training which is easy to understand for everybody and the free starter is account is a great way to test drive this opportunity.

I would like to add that the community at Wealthy Affiliate is second to none. I've never met such an active and helpful community. The members are all specialists in different aspects of marketing and they are always so fast to answer any question. I have never waited more than a minute or two to get the help I need. Now that's fast!

I hope everyone that reads this review gives Wealthy Affiliate a try. It would be nice if people started to regain their faith in online business.

Thanks Again

Ryan Sims"

So in this comment, I have related to what he has written, added what I agree with, and expanded on the idea. I've also added a little extra by mentioning the WA community and in the last paragraph, I've directed the sale. I could still improve this comment by asking a question or two to create dialogue.

Feedback

Feedback is directly related to a person's website performance, quality of content, SEO etc. It is something that the blog reader will never see, but the website designer (whoever asked for the feedback) will see. It should include the web site's strong points and it's weak points as well. It should be specific and offer suggestions as well.

Example

"Hello George,

While exploring your website I noticed some really great stuff. For 1 your website name is fantastic. It's original, catchy and there is no guess work about what this site is about. I also really like the way you lay out your content. It's easy to read and has some great visuals.

I tried to look you up on google but couldn't find you. You may want to do some extra research in the keywords you use and where they should be used in your article. for example, you should use your keyword in H1, H2 titles, as well as your first and last paragraph..."

Your feedback will likely be longer than any comment. it's important to be thorough. I made this example short just for simplicity's sake.

As you can see there is a fundamental difference between these two. Let's review.

Comment

  • Positive
  • Relate directly to the content
  • Come from the readers perspective
  • Ask a Question
  • Direct the sale
  • Help lead the reader in the direction the website owner wants them to go

Feedback

  • Should give helpful advice to the website owner
  • be specific
  • should focus on strong points as well as weak points
  • suggest ways to improve the site
  • be thorough

One final note. When giving feedback I think it's best to give advice on what you know, or how you feel. If your specialty is SEO than give SEO advice. If it's content writing or copywriting give Content writing or copywriting advice. If you are new to all of this internet marketing than just say how you feel. "I had a hard time reading paragraph three, there are many grammatical errors" or You have a double paragraph halfway down the page. The one that starts with..."

I hope this explains the difference between a comment and feedback and gives everyone an idea of what should be included in each.

Thanks for reading. Best Regards

Ryan Sims
