Getting Back In The Game of Affiliate Marketing

About 10 years ago, maybe a little more, I taught myself affiliate marketing by studying things on the Warrior Forum, Digital Point, and some other sources. I did moderately well, but I had an offline job offer I couldn't refuse 2 years after I started affiliate marketing, and went with that.

During that time, I didn't keep up with anything. I treated everything as it was "set it and forget it." Bottom line is, I didn't care anymore. Granted, I was still making commissions on some of my sites. A lot of the sites I had lapsed, some good domain names lost, and it really didn't matter to me. I was pursuing a dream that I always wanted to do.

Those first two years of affiliate marketing over 10 years ago were MUCH EASIER than they are now. Autoblogs were the thing, landing pages were good enough for Adwords, and duplicate content and other things now outlawed were good enough for adsense. Clickbank had the TV on PC Offers, WOW gold, antivirus software, registry cleaners, and Fat Loss 4 Idiots was the #1 product on clickbank. Affiliates were making BANK, and I was doing well, but not a guru by any means. Social bookmarking was all the rage, and along with article marketing on Squidoo, Hubpages, Ezinearticles and some other directories, you were on the 1st page of Google before you knew it!

About a year after I pursued my offline job offer, I learned about the "Google slap." Article directories were penalized, some sites just disappeared. Landing pages were no longer indexed. Clickbank deleted hundreds of vendors from their system. It appeared as if everything was over. I didn't care, I was doing OK with my new job, and I didn't have time to figure out anything.

Well, a couple of months back, I lost that job. And don't feel sorry for me! I was burned out and looking for a way out. What did I run to? I decided to start again from scratch here at Wealthy Affiliate. Much of what I have done with WA so far has been review material, and even though I am tempted to jump ahead, I'd rather not miss a step. The one step I skip, may mean the difference between success and failure.

While I know more than maybe some of you know about this, I also know less than I think I know. I'm here to help in any way, especially for newbies. I'm more anxious to head on to the "meatier" areas later on in the course and training videos and see where it leads.

Thanks for stopping by. Stay tuned!

Thanks for the share and will stay tuned. Jay

Thank you!

Ah, you truly are in the right place at the right time Ryan, your early background will stand you in good stead, of that I have no doubt. At least you know you don't know certain things and being willing to stay the course study without jumping ahead will benefit you in the long run. Do well.

Thank you for the encouragement!
