Wow - awesome contacts today!
I have just built a new website over the past few weeks providing detailed information, GPS mapping etc of walks in our city. This has mostly been started because my father-in-law has made many bush walking tracks in our city over the past 46 years and I wanted to get these online for people to enjoy.
Today - the councils for the two areas of the city where he has constructed the tracks hosted a morning tea to honour him for his work and present him with a special plaque. They have also said they will name a track after him - so a nice honour.
The beauty of all this however is that two of the main area Councillors were present as were some of the senior Parks Staff and I got the opportunity to show my new website and talk about what I was doing.
They were very impressed with the site - the ideas, integration of technology etc and are keen to work with me on further development and of course linking into their own websites etc.
They said they have sold 5000 walking track booklets alone in the past 5 years - so think of the potential traffic of these alone as they use the site for various walks.
Anyway - its just an exciting development for me and this fledgling but exciting website.
Just thought I'd share.
Thanks again to everyone for their help and support - and of course to the WA system for making it possible.

That is really exciting news, Richard. Goes to show you never know what will happen just from talking to people. Congratulations!
Exciting indeed!
I just visited your site and you have done a wonderful job with it. Your site provides a great service and you should be very proud.
Wonderful that your Dad is being recognized too.
Congrats Richard
Thanks. Dad was the original motivation and the vision and ideas have grown from there. Thanks for the compliment. I have more functionality to provide yet - better searching and I want also want to include some scavenger hunt downloads.
All the best
Richard

Hey Richard, looks like the planets are aligned and its time to recognise your father-in-laws community based work.
If you build it they will come - a misquote from Field of Dreams.
Best regards
Keith
Hi Keith - a great misquote too!
I am hoping that the interactive nature of the site will make it a really valuable resource and have people using it regularly.
Thanks for the comment and all the best.
