Busy day yesterday… Alpaca shearing time
Hello WA'ers
Yesterday was busy we had the Alpacas sheared. Every 12 months they get sheared because if they don't they run a risk of overheating during the summer.
See the above photo... and they always look so funny and so skinny especially their necks.
It's done by a professional shearer and they get wormed and vaccinated, have their toenails, teeth and hairdo's done.
When all the animals came home last night... (they all come into the home yard at night) the other animals just stared at the poor Alpacas as if they were aliens... they didn't recognise them with their new hairdos.
My backs broken ... and probably other body parts too, I had planned to blog about it after but was sooo tired, I showered fell into bed and passed out at about 7pm last night.
So here I am catching up, and feel like I've just climbed MtEverest. I tell you it totally sucks when your body ages.
I mean I still think and feel like I'm about 30 in mind and always get this big reality shock when I look into the mirror in the morning so now I try to look at myself without looking at myself if you know what I mean.
If you do know what I mean then you must be part of the "older" generation and I'm glad because at least I'm not alone.
It's really good being part of the WA community, at least when you experience a "feeling" you know you're not alone ... there's another WA'er feeling something similar to you...thank goodness.
Happy days
Ruth

I sometimes fall right to sleep too, Ruth! I do feel quite rested most times when I get up though!
That sounds like a whole lot of hard work with the shearing! Does their wool or hair get used for anything useful?
Just curious! Take care and have an excellent day!
Jeff
That must be an interesting experience with the shearing of the alpaca, Ruth
I would love to be there to witness it all :)
It was an eyeopener the first time also because they usually require help to steady and hold the Alpacas until they are safely harnessed so they can be shorn
Understand exactly where you are coming from. Aches and pains coming from nowher. But, when you have goals in mind, you stay young at heart. Nice article and informative. wWat do you do with the fur?

Hi Ruth...
To me, age is just a number. It's more how you FEEL, and by reading about all that you are doing, you certainly are more energetic than most at your age.
We all get tired. Some from just walking around the block and others from hiking mountains.
Thank you for sharing!
-Mike
Thanks Mike I used to be more fit but have really let that slide and I just can’t seem to motivate myself to start again
Same with me as well...I get tired quickly when it comes to exercise.

Me too I just feel tired lately and I used to train all the time as I was heavily involved in Muay Thai kickboxing, I just feel tired these days
