Life on the farm
Hello WA'ers
Right so yesterday we were back to mud glorious mud (maybe I should start a mud bath farm mmm)? Do you think it might be worthwhile or a mud wrestling thing?
So there I was in the morning slogging and wading through the wet and mud on my way to feed Jackie the pig. Almost had a wrestling match with the donkeys trying to stop them from getting into Jackie's food.
I was bent over shielding Jackie's food from the donkeys and what does Jackie decide to do ... he gives himself a big shake... mud flew all over me, there I was wiping mud off my face and glasses.
After my special mud facial treatment I proceeded to try and get the sheep out. 3 of them were going for their "Sunday" stroll (they got their days mixed up) just had them by the gate and Sophia our biggest horse, 17 hands and a big girl she is, decides she wants to come back inside. So we had a stand off 3 sheep and Sophia at the gate. I put Jackie's empty feed bucket down and Sophia promptly stuck her nose in and got the bucket stuck on her head. Now I'm out there by myself it's very muddy, wet and slippery I've got this big horse starting to panic because the buckets stuck on her nose. I can't even reach the top of her head if she lifts it, she's so tall. I got her calmed and the bucket off, thank goodness. By this time I've broken out in a sweat like I'm doing this awesome workout.
Anyways I carry on slogging through the mud to get the hay, when the mud catches hold of my left boot and almost made me trip ...as it was I just about lost the boot in the mud, my sock pulled off inside the boot but I managed to hobble to the hay shed where I could take my boot off and put my sock back on.
Phew! I tell you never a dull moment here... I'm seriously thinking of putting video cameras up and posting weekly episodes to YouTube.
I managed to push the wheelbarrow filled with hay through the mud without any further mishaps that's an achievement in itself too. So later today when my other daughter rings and gets up me for not training anymore like I should I have a good 2nd excuse that I've done some "organic" special workout.
I get back inside and horizontal says, "Oh there you are, I was beginning to wonder where you were, oh and do you know you've got bits of mud in your hair?".
I told him it's my new hair mask...
That was the start of my day.
Happy days
Ruth
Ps. The photo is of Valentine and Manu 2 of our Alpacas. Manu ( the dark one) was rescued in the drought his previous owner had no more feed left. Valentine was born on Feb 14th 18mths ago. They recently had their wool shorn, otherwise they can overheat in summer.

Vasile,
Ruth, I was cracking up from start to finish on reading your blog
You're correct! You need to start a YouTube channel and put some of these hysterical antics in there
These animals sure knows how to entertain :)
Hi, Ruth
Your average day is certainly more exciting than most peoples’!
You should definitely create a YouTube channel about your daily farm escapades! 😁
