I've read that having more than one affiliate link per page or post can cause major seo penalties. Is this true for banner ads too? Is there ever a time when additional ads are

There is lots of speculation about SEO. Personally, I see sites like Forbes and USA today load their site with ads and still get good rankings. However, Google is very clear that too many ads above the fold will negatively affect your SEO.

As far as number of affiliate links, again, it's all speculation. SEO lore says that too many affiliate links will be bad for your page and/or site. Others will say that it's just because you have too many outbound links, so it reduces your "authority". Some say that none of that matters.

I say just focus on user experience. If you have one main review and you need a ton of affiliate links, go for it. I ranked on page 1 with a page that has over 20 affiliate links. It's your money page, and you are driving traffic to this page from other posts on your site. You aren't 100% reliant on ranking to make money from this page and can benefit from having a large amount of affiliate links.

If you are trying to rank a review, fewer affiliate links may be beneficial. A person does not want to be bombarded with links to buy. They want good information. There's a threshold where you can say, "OK, that's enough links. If they really want to buy they can find the link."

Every site is different, so it might be hard to say just one or certain number is ok. That said, I think I have heard Kyle says in the lesson somewhere you can have 3 affiliate links on a page.

But what's also important is how much content you have or how old your site is. If you have many posts without affiliate links and have affiliate links here and there, it may not be a problem to put a few on one page. I don't think there is a magic number of how many you can have.

I would say no, it's not worth it, but that's just me.

Hi all. I've been at this for about a week. I am making pretty good progress toward completing an initial content driven affiliate website, and a question keeps popping into my

Lol, can't wait for the magic to happen. Magic in a more literal sense in that this is actually possible.

Thanks for the idea on social media. My friend/family will definitely be bribed.

My transition point has always been about 3-6 months. If I produce 3-7 posts per week consistently, I usually see some kind of "magical" boost around that time LOL.

I rely on social media in the beginning while building out a site. Have friends/family comment to increase your authority and footprint, and that will help a great deal.

What are good ways to draw early traffic to a new site?
