Just finished reading Traffic Explosion 3.0 - The new rules of internet marketing by Kyle from Wealthy Affiliate. It has opened my eyes to the changing environment that is the internet. I truly believes these changes go hand in hand with Moore's law. Moore’s Law is a computing term which originated around 1970 The simplified version of this law states that processor speeds, or overall processing power for computers will double every two years. I truly believe that this process takes place on the internet.
Tim Berners-Lee launched the World Wide Web in a bid to share information. Little was known about this process or how much it was going to affect the world. Then in 1993 the Web was released to the world and it has never looked back. The language Berners-Lee created was Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP), one of the languages used to communicate across the internet, triggered a new way of sharing information. Causing the spark to ignite what the internet is today.
Lets take a look at the time line of the internet:

- 1984 - Domain Name System (DNS) is established, with network addresses identified by extensions such as .com, .org, and .edu.Writer William Gibson coins the term “cyberspace.
- 1985 - Quantum Computer Services, which later changes its name to America Online, debuts. It offers email, electronic bulletin boards, news, and other information.
- 1988 - A virus called the Internet Worm temporarily shuts down about 10% of the world's Internet servers.
- 1989 -The World (world.std.com) debuts as the first provider of dial-up Internet access for consumers.
Tim Berners-Lee of CERN (European Laboratory for Particle Physics) develops a new technique for distributing information on the Internet. He calls it the World Wide Web. The Web is based on hypertext, which permits the user to connect from one document to another at different sites on the Internet via hyperlinks (specially programmed words, phrases, buttons, or graphics). Unlike other Internet protocols, such as FTP and email, the Web is accessible through a graphical user interface. - Jump to 2014
- 2014 - A coding error discovered in April in Open SSL, encryption software that makes transactions between a computer and a remote secure, makes users vulnerable to having their usernames, passwords, and personal information stolen. Millions of banks, Internet commerce companies, email services, government sites, and social media sites rely on Open SSL to conduct secure transactions. The coding error was made in 2012. Computer security experts encourage computer users to change their passwords.
The changes are now coming fast and furious. We get updates everyday from Microsoft. We are now going into Windows 10 with open arms. Not many bad thing have been said about Windows 10. After the menu issues they had with Windows 8.0 resulted in many people installing their own menu. What I have seen of Windows 10 I like. Its appears to be a catchall for everything that was great in Windows 7 and getting rid all that was bad in Windows 8. And if you want to install 10 its free at the present time. The only thing I don't like about Window 10 is the users lack of control. You will no longer be able to decide on whether you will receive updates. The switch is always on. Big brother?
I began my life in computers with a computer from Texas Instruments TI/99. Only $99 and it have 4k of memory. This was in 1982. I had to use a tape recorder to store my information. Sequential memory storage is a pain. Flash forward to the computer I am working on now. It has dual processors with a 80 gig hard. Which I only use half of the memory. Computers and the internet have opened the world to us. We can talk to anyone in the world at anytime we want.
Where am I going with all this? This is about the people who are building business' on the internet. They need to be constantly vigilant of these changes. You can't do it yourself. You need to build a social network built just like the WWW. First find a group of people with the same interests as yourself. Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest etc. and engage them. Not just with "Hey I just got back from the bathroom and I feel good". Look for a group like Wealthy Affiliate who keep track of all these changes and work together to help their members.
You need to build content for you online business. It doesn't have to be of Gone with the Wind caliber. Star Wars or Harry Potter. I know we all can't write content like this but don't settle for anything less then your best. People need a reason to follow you. Not just because you have a website but because you are an interesting person. So just don't throw something up on the net because you feel the need for speed. Do it because its truly exceptional in your eyes. Remember it will be forgotten by tomorrow. Good luck and good speed. "Time is not short, Only life is"
