Hi reader, my name is Richard Penfold, married to my lovely wife Susanne with one daughter Rebecca.
Part-time online marketer working towards the 'muse' lifestyle as described in Tim Ferriss book 'The Four Hour Work Week'...
Getting there steadily...
Update 2017 (Oct) Have encouraged my wife Susanne to have a go at this website stuff, which will hopefully allow us to work more together?
Profitability took a slight hit this year when my Bing PPC account got banned. But a combo of promoting recurring affiliate programs and organic search engine traffic meant it was only a blip :)
Update 2016 (July)
Profitability is steadily rising ($700 - $900 month)
Still, spend way too much of my available time thinking and WAY too little DOING!
I love reading the success stories on WA.
So inspiring to see how people carve their own path from the excellent core training...
Update 2015 (Oct) - Learning how to be the marketer I need to become...
Meaning with only about 4 hours per week to work on this business I need to be more efficient with my time.
For me, this has been using paid traffic to my 'landing pages'. Concentrating on finding audiences and messages that 'click' with them rather than just writing content (I'm really slow at writing).
The great news about this method is that once you've found a target market (either via keywords if using search engine PPC or interest groups if using Facebook), a successful Hook (advert headline & message) and a winning offer (for example Wealthy Affiliate) you have yourself a FULLY AUTO profit funnel requiring very little if any work.
The training in WA has taught me how to do this, and as I do more of it I get better...
Update 2014 (July) Now over 50! - I wanted to add a little more detail as I plan on getting more involved within the WA community.
I wanted to challenge myself to improve my focus, and move a little outside of my comfort zone in terms of online marketing.
By profession, I was a recruiter and the psycho testing stuff used in the industry tells me I'm a bit of a communications cave dweller...
I prefer listening to talking, and when I do communicate I prefer recorded or pre -prepared methods, writing rather than live spontaneous stuff for example.
So the challenge I've set myself is to build a website promoting WA and record my journey from zero to $1K per month. The idea being to goad me into taking consistent action.
So by 'putting it out there' I hope it also may be helpful to others. I'll journal the stuff that works and warn of the stuff that doesn't.
The sites URL is http://wealthyaffiliatechallenge.com/ and at the time of writing (19th July 2014) is 5 days old.
The community and training here are great and I look forward to participating way more than I have... (from the mouth of my nice safe cave :) )
