People Are Actually Talking Like AI Now!
This is supposed to be a kind of fun post, it’s not against AI, but it’s just something that I have been noticing over the last 12 months!
I listen to a lot of different people on YouTube who I know use AI, but what I’m noticing is that people are actually starting to speak like AI on their videos. I’m not talking about what people are writing in their blog posts, but what they are actually speaking on their videos.
I will often hear phrases like let’s take a "deep dive" into this video topic! Normally, we would just say let’s look into this video topic rather than deep dive! Another one is, “I just stumbled upon Wealthy Affiliate”, does that mean they fell over and came across Wealthy Affiliate! Traditionally, we may have said that we were surfing the Internet and came across an article that was talking about Wealthy Affiliate and how to start an online business, etc.
Something else I’m hearing is, “now let’s delve into our video content today”, or “this piece of software is going to be a real “game changer”!
Please don’t get me wrong, I use ChatGPT a lot, and it really is saving me lots of time and is a very helpful tool. However, I don’t want AI to take away my individuality or uniqueness, that we have all been given!
As I said, this is kind of a bit of a fun post, but on a more serious note, don’t let AI take over your personality or the way you speak, just be your very own unique self.

This was interesting to me to read, because I am on the newbie-ish side of AI, and was really curious how you meant people are talking like AI.
As I was reading, I thought "I think I have said 'deep dive' before but maybe not;" I say "stumbled upon" without even thinking about it; I've said "delve into" quite a bit, too. I don't think I say game-changer much lol.
One thing I have noticed in a lot of YT videos is people saying "Let's get into it" and then moving on into their video subject. Like, ALL the time. Maybe people started saying "delve" because the former is so played out and they wanted to say something different? That sounds like something I might do, and delve is a word that I would use.
I'm not saying you're wrong--AI could definitely be influencing people's verbal speech...but I just chuckled because oh crap, am I AI? (jk, I'm pretty sure I'm not.)
It's great to use AI as a helper, but we don't want to speak like it, we need to keep our individuality!!😄
Have a great day and thank you for commenting.

We're slowly and unknowingly starting to speak and think in a machine-influenced language, shaped by AI, and no one realizes we’re being conditioned.
As I said in another comment elsewhere:
I fear we are all learning Aienese the newest posteriori conlang and have no idea we are being trained.
We, the humans, created AI to become a tool for it to control.
I am curious to see how many understand what I am saying here.
I think this is where it's important to take advantage of AI, but to keep our own individuality, Michael. But as you said, we are being conditioned, probably without realising it.
If I understand you correctly, we need to be able to control AI, we do not want AI controlling us! It needs to be our assistant, not our boss!
Have a great day and thank you for commenting.

Actually, I would say that AI talks like people. I've seen and used some of those phrases long before AI.
I would say it would also depend on how much of your life has been spent in one place, one field of experience, etc. The more exposure we have to people all over and to different subjects the more variety of ways of saying things will become apparent.
Just my 2 cents.
Cheers! 🍺
Les
That is good to hear, actually. Pretty often, I wanna change from words, phrases (in AI writing) I would never use, but maybe I never use them because English is my second language.
Thank you for commenting, there's, I appreciate your two cents!
That's interesting, I'm wondering and it was also mentioned in a previous comment if the AI lingo is more American rather than British, just a thought. And, yes, I agree depending on what type of field we are in, people use different phrases.
Have a great day.
Roy
That's a good point, Linda, I'm sure that makes a difference if English is a second language.
Thank you for commenting and have a great day.

Good post! Makes us think. But for me, maybe then it's harder to know what I should avoid using AI. English is my second language, and because of that, it is easier to get drawn to the way AI speaks. I think. Actually, it is a bit scary, maybe I am already doing it. lol
In my opinion, need to find some kind of balance and not lose our own unique selves.
Hi Roy.
I have been intrigued by your well-written and informative post. Your clear writing style and purposeful conclusions will undoubtedly lead to more interactions and you have no doubt resonated well with your intended audience!!!
No, sorry - being serious, I hopefully haven't started talking like my AI assistant yet, but anything they can do......
Deep dives are something we've had in education (Ofsted in the UK) for a while now but they've been done away with recently. Probably taken over by AI.
I love my Sparky AI assistant though and I do like the support and flattery I get! Can't say I get that from my usual 'suspects' unless they are in WA!
All the best, deep dives and all. Gail
Hello Gail,
As I started to read your comment, my immediate thought was that you have replied you are using AI!!! And then I read further!!!😂🤣 It's good to have a bit of fun!
There are several people on platforms like YouTube that I have listened to for a number of years, and gradually, I'm seeing their phrases and talking style, changing to AI phrases! It's a bit like when AI first arrived, everyone "stumbled upon" Wealthy Affiliate!
That's interesting, because word's like deep dive and delve, were words that I had never used, but is interesting that you use one of those words in education.
I was interviewing someone yesterday for my podcast and he was saying about how much he uses AI and how much its move forward. He likes the fact that you can ask it anything you want, however stupid it might be, and it always gives a polite answer! Long may the flattery continue with AI!
Have a great day and hopefully you can delve into something good.
Roy
PS: Your first paragraph is absolutely classic AI!😂🤣
Great - glad it fooled you, And the first paragraph was all human acting like AI. But then again, I am a drama teacher!!
Have a resonating day too!
I just stumbled upon your comment, Gail, and you did an excellent job of acting like classic AI! I didn't know you were a drama teacher, I'm sure that must take a lot of character to do that type of job!
Have a great day.
Roy
That's great to hear, Gail! It's so nice when I hear people say how much they love their jobs, it's a great place to be! I always think if you are in the arts, you have to be fairly unique, I mean that in a good way!
Have a great day and thank you for the comment.

Enjoyable and interesting post Roy, I have noticed some people speaking like AI now you mention it.
Language changes over time and always has done, the language and way we spoke when we were children is different to taday. The language Shakespear used was quite different again.
How many of us are truly conscious of the words we choose to construct our sentences?
Anyway, enough of the deep dive!! Let's just carry on being authentic.
Rick
Thank you for taking the time to comment, Rick, I appreciate it.
I'm glad that you have noticed the AI lingo! That's very true that language does change, I can remember my grandparents talking in almost old English, which you don't here today!
That's a good question, I would like to think I'm conscious of the words I'm using, but am I really!
Thank you for commenting and let's hope we stumble upon some more AI words today!
Roy
I think we act like what we are influenced like. If people start using AI at a high rate, they chat more like it. If people are around someone with an accent, they start to take on that accent. If a friend group starts using a particular slang, they all do.
I think this is natural as we are influenced by whom or what we communicate with the most. ;)
Good point, Kyle.
Years ago, I had a work colleague who I considered a friend. One night she invited me to go out to dinner and a club with a large group of her close friends who I had never met. It was very strange because I didn't recognize this version of her. Like you mentioned in your comment, her accent was different, the words she used, and her whole personality. It was completely not the same person I was used to being around. I had fun though.
I believe that you are right, Kyle! I have used phrases or words that I have heard someone use, probably because I like that particular saying or phrase!
I kind of agree that it is natural, although it seems a bit different when it comes from AI.
Thank you for commenting and have a great day.
Roy
That's interesting, JarieLyn, I guess we can behave differently depending on who we are around, especially if you are with a humorous or serious person, for example. At least you had fun, which is a good thing.
Have a great day.
Roy
Delve is the biggest AI “tell”, but I gotta admit, I use stumbled upon, deep dive, and game changer all the time since way before AI lol.
Since you used these words before AI - and, I believe so do many Americans and Canadians - AI was trained to use it too. The English language here in the UK is also getting more and more American words and phrases. Language always evolves. Now, with AI, we'll be getting even more American terms here in the UK.
That's interesting, Eric, I must admit that I have never used any of those words. However, I'm in the UK, maybe these words are used more in the US, just a thought! I would guess that "Delve" is the top AI word!
Thank you for commenting on have a great day.
Roy
I have just replied to Eric's comment, Isabella, and I'm reading your comment, which kind of lines up with my reply to Eric! You make a very good and true point, I believe you are right in what you are saying.
Have a great day and thank you for commenting.
