Being Productive In Your Business When The Kids Are Around

Ahh motherhood !! what can I say, it's really hard to get a job done properly when you are interrupted 20 times let alone concentrate on a given task.

Have you ever tried to write a blog post with a kid fighting over your keyboard, someone screaming in the back ground, cleaning up the split drinks, changing a nappy, attending to food cause someone is always hungry and everything in between? It's not easy.

So how do mummy bloggers get work done when there is so much interruption going on in their lives when they are trying to work? Some of the most successful online marketers are busy moms. How on earth do they do it?

I have six kids, four are at school and two are at home during the day. I have bought myself a Tablet, do you think I get to use it? -Oh yes, to put it back on the charger cause I only see it when it's flat.

I have an iphone, again I struggle to find it most of the time the kids have thrown it somewhere when it's flat. I have a computer, but someone is always on it. So now I have bought myself a laptop and it is a saviour.

I don't know what the successful mums do; but I can share with you what I do because I to have big dreams for myself.

Instead of fighting and looking for time to get my business sorted I just go with the flow. In my day when the little ones are around, I get on my laptop and I research everything I need for my next article.

I follow them around the house and yard and do my tasks where ever they choose to play so that I'm still looking after them.

It doesn't then matter if I am interrupted because I am just pretty much surfing the net. I have my special Ideas book, a pen and I write down everything I find that I want to talk about in my next blog or review.

I brain storm everything I want to include in my article and go searching for all the answers. I also go through my blogs and fix up any mistakes and tidy up my site.

I search Youtube for the videos I'll include in my blog, and paste them into a my draft page. I sign up to any necessary affiliates and do all the fluffy stuff you need to do.

I go to site comments and comment on blogs and join in on chat or go through some Live video classes. I much around on social media and join the live chat.

I do all the small but needed detailed tasks while the kids are playing around me and I can still get up to them 50 times and it will not distrupt my concentration ability. In fact they think I am sitting with them.

The beauty about this is I am totally 'set' for when I get my one hour chance to be on my own. This normally doesn't happen until midnight, but I have done everything I need to do so I can just get on my computer and put all the pieces together and write my article.

To be honest I actually prefer it this way. If I made a time where I researched, and done all this fluff stuff my brain would then feel too tired to write the article.

By breaking it up not only do I give myself reflection time and thoughts for the article, but I am not tempted to muck around with any distractions because I've already done it.

I believe we need to use our time wisely and fill the little pockets of time with the nitty gritty stuff required to build an online business.

As a busy mum that's the only way I can do it and it works for me.

So there you go, I don't need my kids to go to childcare to get my work done, I just do the bits of my business that fit around their needs. I am a mum first, and my business is just "what I do".

I love it. It gives me joy, instead of looking at the messy floors I am too busy building my business.

You seem to have it all sorted - it is difficult when kids are around. All the best pushing forward :)

Yeah,, some days I can't even get a minute in.... but we just got to try ;)

That is exactly it. You fill in the little pockets of time that you get when there is the slightest bit of downtime. When kids are noisy, and TV is going on in the background, you can do the mindless but necessary tasks and then yes, when the house is quiet at night and everyone is asleep, then concentrate on the harder things. You just have to do what you have to do to make it work. :)

yeah,,, my husband likes me to watch tv with him,,, so thats when I do my keyword research,,,, if I am gonna sit there I might as well be productive

Exactly. My son always wants me to watch TV with him too, so I do similar tasks when I sit there. Great strategizing. :)

i know you can get heaps done hey,
