What Can Macus Aurelius Teach Us? Plenty!
From a modern perspective Marcus Aurelius is certainly not in the first rank of ancient philosophers. He is no Plato or Aristotle, nor even a Sextus Empiricus or Alexander of Aphrodisias. To a certain extent, my judgment is perfectly fair and reasonable. However, in order to assess the philosophical qualities that Marcus does have, and that are displayed in his works, it is necessary to emphasize that in antiquity, philosophy was not conceived merely as a matter of theoretical arguments. These arguments were real and important, and they were framed within a broader concept of philosophy. The aim was not merely to gain a rational understanding of the world but to allow that rational understanding to inform the way in which one lived. If one keeps this understanding in mind, then one becomes able to appreciate the function and the philosophical value of Marcus Aurelius.
So, what can the WA Community learn from Marcus Aurelius? As the title suggests, we can learn much from Marcus. First, he appeals to the general reader because he is approachable and largely understandable without any special training. For example, after fighting horrific battles, with death all around him, Marcus writes simply on how to use reason and logic, how to control your emotions and how to practice self-mastery.
Like Marcus, Kyle's writing is approachable and understandable. In addition, Kyle instructs us to be the same way when we write our content and blog posts. How many times have you heard Kyle talk about writing blogs like you're having a conversation with someone? How many times have you heard Kyle instruct us to make your content readable by using small paragraphs and captivating headlines?
Second, the training available inside the WA Community forces you to master the techniques of affiliate marketing. Although I doubt Marcus Aurelius had WA in mind when he was thinking about self-mastery, I do believe he was talking about recognizing how our current behaviors diminishes our effectiveness.
Like Marcus, Kyle points out, inter alia, improper time management, people-pleasing, procrastination and perfectionism, as obstacles to achieving our goals. Therefore, mastering the techniques in WA is, in essence, the practice of mastering yourself.
Lastly, Marcus Aurelius is also known for his many types of aphorisms such as "Man is worth as much as what he is interested in is worth." These aphorisms have served many as both solace and guide for many centuries. Although I never heard Kyle use any aphorism, I have heard him use Chines proverbs to describe our journey at WA, such as "To know the road ahead, ask those coming back."
Like Marcus, Kyle cares about people, specifically the people within the WA Community. He is willing to share what it takes to succeed in affiliate marketing and wants us to enjoy this journey. However, he is not alone. There are more than 100,000 members in the community who "know the road ahead" and they are ALL willing to assist in YOUR journey.
So, let's strive to be more like Marcus, Kyle and many WA members by practicing the art of self-mastery. Don't get overwhelmed about writing content, don't feel like your all alone, but more importantly, DON'T EVER QUIT.
