The Basic Concept Of On-Page SEO

Hello again my fellow WA members. And once again I find myself repeating myself.

I published a blog some time ago on Keywords and the use off as well as pointing out a few do’s and don’ts

It would seem the information I gave in that blog hasn’t been taken on board by quite a few members. Its either that or they are all new members. However as I am a helpful kinda guy I will more or less repeat what I said in that previous blog with a few amendments.

The purpose why website owners engage in search engine optimization or SEO is to have their websites in the top positions of Search Engine Results Pages. This can be done for specific keywords and are grouped into two categories: on-page and off-page optimization.

The second one can be achieved by creating back links to the website. The back links will help you increase your site reputation and is very important for getting on the the first page in search results. But the basic element of optimization is the page itself. The on-page optimization is an integral part of search engine optimization because it is the one that describes the content of the website and emphasizes the Main Keyword you are targeting.

Identifiy Your Keywords

When it comes to SEO, the first thing you need to do is to pick your keyword. Its important that you look for targeted words or phrases that are connected to whatever your website is all about be it a product or service. By doing this, you will achieve a high search volume. As a rule you need to optimize each page for only one keyword since the main goal of SEO is to highlight a specific keyword in order to relay a message to your visitors and to the search engine what your site is offering. On-page optimization is actually a no-brainer and website owner can achieve the search result position they desire given the right moves.

Right Ways To Use Keywords

To be successful in on-page search engine optimization, you need to put your main keyword at relevant into visible and invisible (Meta) page elements. The best thing to do is to include informative, entertaining and readable content so your visitors will know what your website is all about and can easily find the information they need. Your content should also mention your keyword at least 2 to 4 times. Once you have written your website's content with your targeted keyword, you also need to think of a page title that will also contain the keyword. Then, add a few header tags (h1, h2, h3, and so on) in order to label paragraphs. And lastly, it is very important to be careful when using your keyword. Check the word frequency in order to avoid excessive use.

Doing all these things will not automatically put you on the first page of search engines but Google in particular does like clear pages that are informative and easy to navigate. The second can be achieved with the simple menu from which you can reach any page on the website in just one or two clicks.

The Importance Of SEO

The purpose of search engine optimization is to tell everyone what your website is all about. For WA members websites engaged in business, search engine optimization will help them get as many visitors to their sites as possible. This of course will equate to how successful their business will be which means how much of an income they will generate.

Optimization is a cost effective way of introducing your products and services online folks and if you’re really interested in performing SEO on your business or any other site then I advise you to follow the right techniques and practices in search engine optimization.

Before I finish. Do any of you reading this blog actually know what On-Page Optimization is?

If not, I feel another blog coming on. Let me know via your comments below and thank you all for reading this far.

Have a nice day people.

Another awesome blog post on on-page and off-page seo, thanks so much, Robert. ;))

You are too kind but glad to be of some help.
Thank you for your kind comment and have a very nice evening.
Robert

You are most welcome, Robert. Have a fantastic day!! ;))

Good morning Robert. Another good read. The sun is about to arrive and the clouds are glowing pink.

and a good morrow to you Helen
Yes the sun is out, the birds are singing and gods in his heaven as they say.
Glorious here in Edinburgh and I'm just about to go out the door for the day.
Thank you for your comment Helen and as always glad to be of service.
Robert

Robert, I would like a clarification about On-Page Optimization.
Thank you, Sami

Hello Sammi. Watch the video that Jean mentions. Its really good and you will learn a lot.
Thank you for your comment.
Robert

Robert, thanks for the suggestion, I had already watched the information Jean had mentioned. However I watched it again- and as always there were things that had not registered the first time.
Sami

Its an age thing lol
Always best to go over stuff just in case.
I'm a just in case guy myself and you do miss little details that can make all the difference.
have a good one.
Robert

Right on. I was relieved to see you confirmed what I have been doing since training. The key, however, is even when you do all of these things you need patience along with a lot of content before your site will begin moving.

hello and thank you for your comment and glad you agree with me.
Its always good to look at all the information you have to hand and you either work from it or not.
A personal choice and glad you made the right one.
Have a nice day.

Hi Robert!
I read before, from Kyle I think, that we should not use back links, cause it do not help our site, instead it will do the opposite.
I am confused about that.
One question, there is somewhere any kind of tutorial that teach how to do SEO optimization for each page we built. I know you told that in your article, but as I am an image guy, a picture worth for thousand words :-).
Can you tell if there is some step-by-step tutorial to help us newbies with this?
Best regards,

Mike

Hi, Mike. This is an awesome training Jay did on optimizing each post or page for SEO. Helped me get ranked quite quickly. You are right about backlinks, I let them happen naturally. Of course, I also use my links to post for FB, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google+.

Hello jean and thank you for your comment.
Yes that video you mention should give anyone who watches it a good idea how to go about implementing on-page-seo.
It really is quite easy once you get the hang of it.
of course the easy way is with a plugin, but not required if you like to do stuff by hand, and I do.
have a nice day.
Robert

Hello. I did not mean to go out and get backlinks intentionally. Usually if your site content is good enough you will get backlinks from relevant websites over a period of time and of course they are the best kind.
Any other way is pretty hit and miss and very few of them will turn out to be what your site needs.
Thank you for your comment.
Robert

Hi Jean!
Thanks a lot for your advice, I will follow it for sure.
Regards, Mike.

Hi Robert, thank you for your answer. I will check Jay's video and optimize my pages. Best regards, Mike.

From one professional trainer to another - repetition for emphasis : )

I agree Clare but only up to a point. If people really concentrate on what I am saying in my blogs and try to implement the information more or less right away I'm sure they will 'Get It'.

Hope you do it right away lol. Have a nice day and thank you for your comment.
Robert

You're welcome. What I do now is revisit your blogs often. That way I know where to find extra info when I need it. I'm naturally slow, so it does take a lot of practice at something before I 'get it' : ) (Not putting myself down, just recognize and accept my limitations).
Thanks for the continuous input.

Hi Claire. Why don't you take up a suggestion I made some time ago and that was to print off the the blogs I publish that you believe will help you and make up your own manual.
That way you can refer back to them whenever you like.
A lot of my followers do this and find its really helpful.

Its always good to know your limitations.
You have a good evening.
Robert

Thanks Robert. As you know, I've had a lot of prob's with laptop issues. One of them as that I don't have a CD drive, which means I have to download any soft ware that I need for my devices. Up until last week I've been having prob's downloading software for my printer and scanner. It's done now though and I'll be taking up this suggestion ; )

If you have a Flash Drive connection on your Laptop (most makes do) then that is another way to save stuff. They are very small and hold a lot of info and you can carry it with your purse wherever you go and just stick it in a PC/Laptop anywhere. Say in an Internet Cafe.
Robert

Yeh, I did copy my software from the CD's to a flash drive but the lap top wouldn't accept it. That was the first of several problems. I usually work on my ipad when I travel. It seems as if the prob's have been sorted now so I'll see how things go : )

Your Laptop might not be set up correctly to accept flash drives.
Have someone look at it for you coz flash drives work in virtually all makes of PC's/Laptops/Tablets etc etc.
Robert

Yes. You're right. When I took it back to the dealers they had to reset it. Since having the various prob's with it and taking it back and getting it back again, I had a friend check the whole thing over. he's tweaked it and I've not had any prob's with it since : )

Always best to get a second opinion Claire.
Glad you got it sorted.
Robert
