What Are Alt Tags And How Can They Improve Your SEO

This is my last blog on Images so unless you have read my other three this one might not make much sense.

You pay attention to your Title Tags in your site content.

You pay attention to your Description Tags in your content.

You also to a certain degree pay attention to your Keyword Tags in your content.

How about the Alt Tag for images though, do you use that, and if not, why not?

Just as you tag your site content with a title and a description, you should always tag your images with alt text . Alt text is important because it’s the text search engines will use to figure out what your images are. It’s also important because the Alt Text will display in place of the image if it won’t load.

Alt Text isn’t hard to write. What it boils down to is a basic description of what the image contains. It doesn’t need to be incredibly detailed, it just needs to get the gist across.

Simple text content will never have a comparable impact that images do. Why? because the internet is ever-increasing visually. The technology is improving all the time and this makes for great imagery. This being so and with so much competition for our websites, great images aren't something you can afford to overlook if you have any hope of attracting lots of visitors to your website.

But when it comes to the matter of implementation, many individuals and companies alike can struggle. They don’t really know what kinds of image they should be using, how they should present, format and tag them, and what value (if any) they have for search. Believe me they have great value with the search engines.
