I am seriously distracted
If you've ever experienced Trinidad & Tobago Carnival you'd understand why I'm distracted today.
Our Carnival has been dubbed THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH.
This would have been carnival weekend which would culminate in the world's largest street party over two days, Carnival Monday and Tuesday, 15th and 16th February 2021.
I can't find the words to explain so I'd leave you with some pics to get a taste of our culture and what Carnival means to us.
Blue Devils
Masquerader enjoying the parade
The kids have their own street parade as well
Moko Jumbies
Masqueraders having a good time
Queen of Carnival
King of Carnival
Streets filled with revellers
And at the end of the Revelry we hit the beaches on Ash Wednesday
Maracas Beach, Trinidad
Pigeon Point Beach, Tobago
I hope you understand my predicament and I hope I enticed you to learn more about Trinidad & Tobago and our Carnival Celebrations.

Hi Roberta,
Simply awesome! Spectacular pictures! They remind me of some of the costumes from our carnival - St.Vincent and the Grenadines. We celebrate our carnival the first two weeks in July. One day soon I hope to return to Trinidad for the carnival celebration. Thanks for sharing your carnival celebration! Wishing you the very best!
Kind regards,
Nichola
Well Nichola you definitely know the Caribbean Carnival vibes!!!
I do hope you come back to enjoy the festivities sometime soon. I've never been to Vincy Mas but it's on my list to must have experiences. It's right up there with Grenada Spice Mas.
Thanks for popping in and please don't be a stranger.
Roberta
Glad you liked it Alex. Quite a few foreigners have done great pieces on their experience.
I'll enjoy it as much as I can given the scaled down version due to covid.
Hi Roberta
There are some amazing views you have shared. I have seen some carnival's From Brasil and indeed from Trinidad & Tobago not live unfortunately but what specular shows they are.
I wouldn't consider that as a distraction but a moment in life to be enjoyed and boost the happiness within.
You are so fortunate to be able to be there and enjoy what your wonderful country has to offer.
Thank you for sharing
Andre
It's a distraction Andre because it's not happening this year :( First time in my lifetime. So it's a very strange feeling.
We have been having minor events that are more covid friendly but nothing on the scale that we are used to. Our airports have been closed actually since April last year with persons wishing to come in having to apply to the Government.
So life has been quite different over the past year. We do appreciate what we have been able to enjoy nonetheless.
Looking forward to Carnival celebrations 2022.
I'm glad you enjoyed the pics and tidbits of our culture.
Unfortunately, this world issue has created much loss of enjoyment but fortunately, you have wonderful memories to still enjoy from previous years and what is currently available even though not a big scale as normal.
I am sure next year will be bigger than ever and will make up for what was not all available this year.
I loved the pics and watched some on YouTube as well. some only have the music and a still Picture while others have some small tidbits.
Regardless it was enjoyable to listen to the music in the background which I feel is a wonderful upbeat way to feel while doing other things.
Stay safe and be well
Andre
Really glad to hear you went in search of more of our Carnival experience online. I really appreciate that.
You continue to be safe as well and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Watching Wonderful Carnivals such as yours and some others always bring joy and happiness into the mix.
always good to see life as it should be full of fun and adventure and total bliss added to the mix.
Thank you, Roberta and you also continue to stay safe and sound in all you do
Andre

Great photos there, Roberta.
I share your pain.
No pan finals.
No Vale Vibe this morning so I am at home enjoying the day with my daughter.
We still managed to get some glimpse of it all in Paramin yesterday with the Blue Devils and powder mas last night.
The place is so solemn though.
Thanks for sharing.

I'm ashamed to say it but I've never experienced Paramin Blue Devils. 2022 for sure!!
This is typical of not missing the water until the well runs dry. But I'll continue to find ways to enjoy what I can in the mean time.
I saw someone post "February 14th is not Valentines Day it's Carnival Sunday. Don't be disrespectful" ... lolol. Trinidad humour at its finest to get through this.
Enjoy your Sunday!
Oh yeah!
We have our ways of coping, Roberta.
I am working away here, around the Savannah, and I am certain that I am hearing music blasting that's accompanying a small band or 2.
Some of us know how to push the envelope. 🙂
