Tread Carefully When Using Ai, it is a Great Tool But Can Make Mistakes
Just a few words about my latest exploits with Chat GPT, I just can’t believe the prompts or questions I ask of it. Most are successful, but some certainly go awry! Even with all the latest upgrades and memory improvements, it is always wise to double-check things.
I recently posed a mathematical question, I am told it was a trigonometry task, it came about when I had first asked it a simpler question with 2 angles and 2 lengths and I wanted to know the distance at the end of the 2 lengths as my helper had missed a field measurement, this was done with great success.
And an added suggestion from Chat was that if I gave it all the measurements and the angles that I had it would draw the floor plan for me with absolutely no problem. I told it that it was a custom-shaped office building in a customer’s garden. The first 3 attempts gave me shapes like the maps of stars. So it suggested that I describe the shape from a set start point saying turn left or right for whatever distance at whatever angle and then it would plot it correctly!!! Hmm that came back as another map of the galaxy and I then had to say stop. I was laughing quite hard but I also didn’t have any more time to spare.
This was not the first time I had come across Chat’s bad mathematics.
Another prompt that took several different attempts was how to get rid of multiple OneDrive accounts across my 3 major devices which was hogging resources and causing delay lapses in apps. Finally, its now done.
Another one of my prompts on my orchid nursery projects was a great success and I have learned so much about caring for orchids.
Other successful prompts have been Installing auto cache cleaners is another success story which is now paying dividends. Simple tasks like what is the Alt key for this or that has also been extremely time-saving.
I do have to remind it that certain things are for the UK audience or clients, which is already difficult for me having lived in the states for over 30 years.
But Generally over all the successes far out way the failures and the above is just some of the tasks undertaken just this week.
So remember to qualify the answers, especially for important tasks.
Take care everyone
Rob

Nothing is perfect, people certainly are far from it. We make a lot of mistakes, A LOT. So the creates an environment where we can have real competition with something that has all the knowledge in the world (some may be incorrect), and that can retrieve that knowledge instantly.
Humans are a lot better at many things, but it isn't knowledge. It is other things, the "human" side of us. Thes eare interesting times.
Good post here Rob, it isn't perfect, but already a lot more perfect than people. Considering we can direct it instantly, we can make it way closer to perfect.

It's all about the prompts Rob! But saying that... even with the best prompt in the world AI can still make mistakes!!
It's up to us to fact check any and everything before we put our name to it!
Hope all is well with you buddy! :-)))
Hey Nick,
Yes, all is well, just got a lot going on watching over my young lad. Just got him through his father's death, and now his grandad just passed away.
