Hoping to Spend More Time Back at Wealthy Affiliate After Months Away
I wanted to post a short update as I start spending more time back here at Wealthy Affiliate after being away for quite a while.
The time away wasn’t planned, and it wasn’t down to losing interest. A combination of health issues and some necessary business changes pulled my focus elsewhere for longer than expected.
What started out as ongoing knee trouble eventually turned out to be linked far more to my back, which led to emergency surgery and a period where everything had to stop. At the same time, the person I had originally built my local site around had to step away due to his own family commitments, which meant the whole project — and the website itself — needed rethinking rather than simply being parked.
So, most of the last few months have been spent quietly brainstorming and rebuilding things behind the scenes rather than being active here, as well as dealing with medical issues, appointments, and a lack of focus and mobility.
The local site itself is now live and soon to be moving in a different direction than originally intended. Instead of being labour- and material-focused, it’s shifting toward surveys, diagnostics, advice, and information-led work, with some carefully chosen affiliate income where it genuinely makes sense. Given the physical realities and the bigger picture, that model is far more sustainable for me going forward — especially with my dream of digital nomadism.
Being forced to step away like this for a bit has also changed how I approach the technical side of things. I’m more confident now handling all of the website work by myself. What I didn’t know, I’ve learned the hard way and hands-on as challenges came up. Another major change has been how I use AI. I’m far more selective about how I use it — and I don’t rely on just one model when things fall outside my fields of expertise. Correcting AI on my strongest subjects has even become a bit of a hobby. It’s still a tool I rely on heavily, but experience has made it clearer where it helps and where hands-on judgement still matters.
Coming back into WA recently — even though I’ve been popping in to update my sites — it’s obvious the platform has really evolved as well. There’s more depth here now than when I first went through things, and I know I’ll get more value from revisiting the basics with a bit of experience behind me rather than trying to rush past them.
This isn’t a full return overnight, as I have a lot of Kyle's videos first, but it is a genuine one. I’m looking forward to spending more time here again, reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting new members, and gradually contributing as things settle back into rhythm.
Good to be back around.

Great to hear you are feeling better, Robby. Getting back here after being gone for months makes you realize how much goes on here all the time. It's like riding a bike though - it all comes back quickly.
Dave
Hey Dave and thanks,
Hopefully just one more surgery to go, but I sure hope you are right about riding the bike, because it sure looks like a different planet.
Rob
Welcome back, Robby. Thank you for sharing such an honest and thoughtful update. It sounds like the time away, while challenging, has led to a lot of growth—both personally and professionally. I really respect how you’ve adapted your business model to fit your health, long-term sustainability, and your bigger vision. Your reflections on learning things hands-on and using AI more selectively really resonate too. Wishing you continued recovery and success as you ease back into WA—it’s great to have you around again.
Hi Monica, Thanks for your for words of encouragement, after my next surgery in less than 3 weeks I am really coming back even stronger ☺

Hi Robby! Welcome back. There are a lot of new additions in the past year you will like!
Hi Howard,
You are not kidding about the additions, I am just going to start at the beginning,
Rob
Great idea! Since it's been awhile since I went through Kyle's training, I am doing the same.
Time outs just happen, regardless of our efforts. Figuring out how to benefit from the time away is important, and sounds like you have. Best wishes as you move forward.
Sami
Hi Sami, its been tough and rewarding at the same time, I hope all has been good with you,
Robby
