I did What You Dont Do As a Salaried Worker( because Im tired and angry)

For a year plus now, my work offline has been hard, when the pandemic hit, many people were let go and for those that stayed, we have to keep things moving.

So recently,I was just like working nonstop, coming home at 8 pm, eating dinner then sleep before 9 pm most of the time because I was just too tired. So I asked my boss "but why are we really working like this"? and he told me "in Labour regulations, it`s allowed to make employees work 6 days a week so go on with it".

So that`s what I and most of us was made to do most of the time 6 days straight, then on my free day,my brain will be "dead" my body aching so I spent every free day "sick in bed" it`s funny, on a free day, I managed to be sick, come workday, I always manage to drag myself up. ( I know a workmate who worked 10 straight days)

FEELING ANGRY

As much as we're all working hard to keep the paycheque coming, I felt I`m doing more because my direct senior has managed to be sick on different occasions, they only worked 28 different days in the last 60 working days. You know, there`s nothing to lose if you have a fixed salary so long as you can produce a doctor`s confirmation, you`ll still get your full paycheque.

A Taboo

Today I went to the highest boss and said

You know, you can as well fire me now because I feel, this is a bait to get me fired, how can you accept that someone is sick for 32 days and every single time I`m supposed to jump and come do their work(my last 2 vacations I had to go work and put off the vacation till when I don`t know).

You can as well fire me now but I`m not working with this person.

So now I'm waiting and really do not care if I get fired. Anyway, we have a strong......I don`t know what you call it in your place, we call it here ALK,which means I`ll still get 70% of my present income while I look for a job for the next 2 years.

And what? I really don`t care, right now I'm just angry.

You've the right to be angry, Roamy.
After all you're exhausted and the higher ups don't seem to care about you.
Being fired appears to be what you may want right about now. For whatever its worth, hang in there because these times are hard without sustainable income.

Blessings,
Maxine

Wow, you're having a really tough time. That's absolutely exhausting to work those kinds of hours without a break. That's the fault of your bosses to do that to you, without trying to bring in more staff or at least explain why they are asking this of you.

Time to look out for yourself. They can either take care of you, or lose you. You deserve that.

they are not brining in more staff, 2 weeks ago,40% of people got fired so we are now even less. It`s tiring.
And it`s the worst moment for anyone to lose a job now in this economy

Sorry it's so tough there. Where I'm at you can find a new job in a heartbeat, but I know that's not the case everywhere.

Hang in there, and don't be afraid to look for someplace new if you can find the time and energy!

Of course you are angry! People often take advantage of good people. I pray that everything works out for you!

You are angry indeed, it’s good you let it out of your system. It’s not good to hold it in. Stress is a killer, think of yourself and take care of you.

You have the time take some off. I told my daughter the same thing two weeks ago, and she did, She is a nurse and her story sound just like your.

Stay blessed.

Time off? I have 10 weeks holiday pending(from the past) I have so many overtime hours if I took them, I`ll not work for 2 months.
It`s just been crazy since early last year

Get bold and take some, you don't want to lose them, the work will still be there when you return.

Stay blessed.

Elizabeth

Not a good time for you, but hopefully they will sort it so you can stay

Thanks, you know, most people are glad to have their jobs and I`m one of them, especially since hubby lost his job immediately the pandemic hit, but they`ve been pushing us so hard and so far that I reached a point that I really do not care.
I will have to wait and see what happens.
