De-brief and Discharge and come into perspective
Without a doubt, many of our most vulnerable families will be impacted by the new protocols. We all know the trauma of this situation, where this it will be like a pressure cooker for most of the people. It can be a highly stressful and heart-breaking time to hear what they are going through – especially if you feel helpless.
If you find yourself obsessively worrying or not being able to sleep or rest properly – you need to address this to rebalance yourself:
1. One way to help you is debriefing. Try to call your loved one or another colleague to de-brief if you feel heavy. Sometimes just knowing that you’re not alone will relieve things and having another perspective can also greatly help.
2. Discharge: When we feel overwhelmed our brain and bodies go on high-alert or survival mode response – anger/depression are the emotional expression. It can make us go into obsessive thinking and have difficulties resting and sleeping. If that’s the case – find a way to physically discharge.
Do something that makes you happy (jogging, work out, go for a fast walk) this will normalize your system.
Once you debriefed and discharged, take a step back and know your limitation, don’t overwhelm yourself.
Your life is important, take care of it.
Thanks.
Peace, love and hope.
