First Things First

Nascent entrepreneurs getting started on the Internet Marketing road to success have many potholes, detours and sinkholes to avoid. Prior to discovering Wealthy Affiliate in January 2017, I had spent 3+ years struggling to find my way, groping in the dark, careening this way and that, veering off and crashing so many times it's ridiculous.

I lost count of the many thousands of dollars I had blown on endless "shiny object" wealth schemes I thought I needed, with no plan on how to succeed and thus no clear path to success. It was exhausting! I almost gave up numerous times, but something told me I could do it and I really wanted it.

Eventually I found my way here to Wealthy Affiliate. Whew! At last I have a sensible step-by-step plan of how to really get my Internet Marketing business up and running on the road to success. In the short time I've been at WA, the most striking lesson has been: First Things First!

The irony is that you have to build the cart before you buy the horse! Otherwise, how would you even know you had the right horse? You have to decide on an audience and what to promote to them, then build a site for that. Fill the site with content of value to your audience and select relevant affiliate offers. Only then do you drive traffic. Build the complete cart first, then get a horse.

We see all kinds of software that claim to drive endless traffic to your site or that promise Internet riches on autopilot. So often it's just another shiny object. Nothing's for nothing. Stay focused. Stay on course and take one step at a time. Don't try to rush the process or skip ahead or think success will come automatically.

Most of all, serve your audience like they are family. Nurture the relationships. Give them your best in terms of great content and vetting your offers. They will love you for it. And crucially, they will trust you enough to buy from you. Here's to your success!
