Do research on the company you want to be an affiliate for. That way you'll be able to determine if they are a good pick or not.
As you go through the training on creating your first hub and website you will find out ways to determine a good niche. Read everything under "laying the groundwork in HUBS

Do research on the company you want to be an affiliate for. That way you'll be able to determine if they are a good pick or not.

And how many can I work with on one site, or would I need a new site for each affiliate program?
First go through the hubs training and learn how to build a foundation for your website based on your choosen niche.
From there you will be building out your website with content based on your choosen niche and need at least at a minimum of 15-20 posts that are information only with no selling intent.
Note you are not selling but helping your readers first and formost.
You need to gain followers to your site and also with affiliate programs then will inspect your site to see if it is worth having you as their affiliate.
For affiliate programs to oin they will be the ones based on your niche and not trying to sell everything under the sun be the helper not a cheesy salesperson as your readers will leave quickly.
Dont be in a hurry you need a following to your site if you have no one visiting your site no amount of affilaite links will help you if not one visits.
You will be writing content to help your readers find what they are seeking and in doing so first build up trust and transparacy for them.
So follow and apply what you are given in the training, apply and complete each task and dont' rush this is not a race but you are on a journey long term.

I would not be looking at affiliate programs until you have some good content on your website. Then you pick an affiliate program to apply to based on your content.

Go to your Hub. On the left side - Revenue Opportunities. You'll see a list of affiliate programs that are relevant to your niche. You can join as many as you want for one site.
