I have created a Free Report (PDF file) as incentive for sign-ups to my mailing list.

How do I put a Download Page on my site with a name/email capture form?

I do no

I made some training recently: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-create-your-list-for-free showing how I started collecting names and email addresses without paying for an autoresponder. Check out my websites: whitewitchcoven.com and whiteboardfx.com to see them in action. You can sign up and then ask me to delete your info after you see how it works from the reader's perspective. You are welcome to keep the free gifts. ~Marion

Hi Marion,

This is really awesome and I thank you so much for taking the time to present such detailed training.

Thank you also for responding to my question.

I joined the lists for both your sites and would like to remain on them - Thanks :-)

Wishing you Health, Happiness and Prosperity.

Blessings Be,

- Rich

Leo made this training: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/creating-a-downloadable-file-link-on-your-website

You can no-index your page, so people can't find it in Google. technically, it will still be searchable on your site though if you have a search feature.

You could deliver it via email, in which case it would not be searchable on your site, you'd just need to link to the media file.

You could have your download page be the custom "thank you page" if you are using Aweber too: http://www.screencast.com/t/3SXFYsNXyCs

Thanks Nathaniell - you're always quick to give support :-)
I shall investigate each of the options you've presented.

Have a great Christmas :-)

- Rich

I've done this before :) what I did was use (I think) pdfhost.net.

You upload your PDF to this site and they give you a download link.

Once people put submit their details in to your form you can choose where to redirect them, then I'd send them to a page on my site with a "Download Now" button and I'd put the PDFHost.net download link within the image so when people click it, it instantly downloads through their browser.

Hope that helps :)

Hi Rob,

Thank you for responding - this looks like a great way to put it into place. I will check out pdfhost.net

Blessings Be,

- Rich

Create a page with your capture form first. Then once they have submitted the form with their info, you send them to a second page with the download link. And you don't have to add either of these 2 pages to your site menu.

Rudy - do you use AWeber, MailChimp ??? Thanks, Cathy

Cathy, I'm just in the process of choosing a email service. I've played with AWeber & Mailchimp. I've heard good things about GetResponse that I plan on checking out next.

I'm just really taking my time as the email platform I really want to be on is InfusionSoft. So I'm just biting my time until I get my first affiliate site up and making money...

Cheers,
Rudy

TrafficWave is the best Cathy.

OK - thanks! I'm using MailChimp right now but have no loyalty to them because they've changed much since I used them on a weekly basis (a few years ago). I will check out TrafficWave. Do you have an affiliate link I can go somewhere and check it out from there? I don't think it's against WA rules if I ask for it, right? Thanks and God Bless! ~Cathy

Gotcha. Thanks, Rudy!

Thank you Rudy for the quick response. This appears to be a good solution :-)
Wishing you Health and Happiness -

Your welcome Rich. Glad to be of some help to you.

Hi Rich! -

Check this out on Google or YouTube! :)

Thanks - I shall do :-)

Can't you turn off the option for anyone can subscribe or register. Have you been receiving emails from WordPress about these new subscribers? I always did. If not, does WordPress have your email address to send notifications? There is an option for that in the set up.

Hi Donna,

Thank you for replying.
Yes, I receive email alerts.
At this point I am thinking I will take up Nathaniell's suggestion of contacting the plugin makers.

Thanks again for your support :-)

- Rich

I don't think subscribers can do much, but I've never used a forum before. If no one on WA has any insight, I would contact the plugin makers. Those guys are usually pretty responsive, though it depends on the developer!

Thanks Nathaniell - strange thing...I tried deactivating the plugin and two days later I am still receiving 'subscribers'.

Thanks Evelyn - you're Awesome!

I shall of course head on over to your site and have a read and leave a comment as well :-)

Keep on Smiling :-)

- Rich

I know nothing about that plugin, but I must say I had to leave a comment on the Female Weight Lifting, I thought it was an awesome article and well written. I didn't know you can burn that much calories lifting. :)

I have two websites sharing a similar niche - health and fitness - would it be ethically correct, and SEO agreeable, to include a link in a post on one to the other and would I

I would have thought it would be ok, until I saw Nathaniell's answer

Just to clarify, I'm not saying it's a set-in-stone rule, and Matt Cutts has clearly said that it's OK to do it, but there were some caveats to that "approval" http://searchengineland.com/googles-matt-cutts-says-it-is-okay-to-link-your-sites-together-but-in-moderation-157141

So for me, I wouldn't do it. There's rarely an instant that it would be necessary. If your sites are similar enough to link, why are you building two sites instead of one? If they are different enough to build two sites, why are you linking them?

Hi Nathaniell,

Thank you again :-)

I understand your point on similar sites and cross linking. To clarify i'll enlarge...before joining Wealthy Affiliate I had began a site encompassing good health and over-all well-being. After joining WA and going through lessons etc, I started a site honed in to my biggest passion in that 'niche' - bodybuilding.

You can view both sites through these links:
http://superyou4life.com
http://bodybuildingformass.com

I am currently writing a couple articles for the first one addressing 'Weight-lifting Routines' so thought I may be able to include a link in the post like 'for further information on exercising with weights visit' (adding a link to my Bodybuilding site).

Thanks again for your thoughts and advice,

- Rich

Thanks Gordi :-)

Technically yes, it's OK, but I wouldn't do it on a regular basis. Actually, I personally wouldn't do it at all. Google might interpret this as a link scheme or as artificially passing page rank.

Thanks Nathaniell - I will take your advice on not linking :-)

After writing my latest post I am finding I can not add any links or images as those buttons on the WP toolbar won't function. Very frustrating - Please Help!

Hi all, I am having the same problem. The "add media" button is not working.

So I made a back up
Version 4.4.1 wordpress installed
Updated my theme (TwentyFourteen)
Have individually tried each plug-in

But still no success...

Please can anybody help me!!!!!!!!!

Hey, also for anyone who has had this problem. I just updated my plugins and it fixed it.

Thank you all for the help.

Nathaniell and kmcmichael - the solution was found by following your suggestion and my post is now published :-)

Blessings Be,

- Rich

Sounds like maybe a plugin conflict. Deactivate all your plugins, then reactivate them one by one, checking your link/image button each time. That will find the culprit! It's very likely the most recent one you installed or updated.

Thanks Nathaniell - I would never think of trying things like that, another reason I love building my online business with the support of the Wealthy Affiliate community!

I will let you know how I go.

- Rich

All sorted Nathaniell - Thank you for the advice...it worked! :-)

I have this problem. I am not very good at links anywhere. Seems to be m achillies heel.

Great thing about being a member of WA - where we lack, others excel - and all like to help :-)

If that suggestion doesn't work the submit a tech support ticket. It usually is a plugin though. Good luck. Kim

Thank you Kim and Blessings

- Rich

Hope you got it sorted out! Kim :))

All good Kim - Thanks :-)

I had a problem with this not too long ago and it was because one of my plugins was not compatible with the new wordpress update. What you can try is deactivating all of your plugins and then see if it works then. After that reactivate the plugins one at a time to see which one was causing the problem.

Thank you for your reply, I will try that and let you know how I go :-)

Thank you - I followed this advice and my post is now happily published with all links etc :-)

Blessings Be,

- Rich

I am so glad that you got it fixed and I was able to help.
