Wealthy Affiliate 2019 Super Affiliate Challenge - My Progress So Far

This is my first blog post on this subject which I feel is a little remiss of me, but I'll make sure I do another next week - the final week of Phase 1.

I missed the first week and a bit of the challenge due to Easter holidays but once my two Sons went back to School again I was able to start playing catch up. Or so I thought!

I hadn't been happy with my Bootcamp website for some time now and I decided to create another, with better content. I'd let things slide with the old site because I'd got a little disheartened for a very silly reason.

Getting The Mindset Right

One thing I believe we should all do in order to improve the quality of our own content is look at the websites of the successful people who are earning good money here at Wealthy Affiliate and see how they're doing stuff. It sounds very counter-intuitive, but when I did that, I actually lost a bit of confidence by worrying that I'd never get my site to look as good as theirs and would lose out on leads to them.

Because I'd let things lapse, I wasn't too hopeful that I'd be accepted on the Challenge, so imagine how pleased I was when I got the e-mail from Kyle telling me I'd got a place! When asked why I wanted to apply, I gave the answer that I needed the accountability of a specific timetable to work to. I'd tried doing this for myself but my deadlines kept 'moving to the right', more often due to distraction than genuine reason.

On With The Training

Much of the Phase 1 SAC training is derived from Phases 1 & 2 of the Bootcamp and so I went through the training and through those parts of the Bootcamp that aren't included in it. I built my new website which I'm now populating with content. I've got 6 articles ready to publish which take me way beyond the Site Content writing goals, and so I've got 6 more articles left to write before 20th May. It's my eldest Son's 11th birthday on the 19th and we're taking him away for a treat so I'll lose that weekend unfortunately.

My Keyword research is quite a long way behind, but I can catch up by doing about 3 a day from now until the end of Phase 1.

Due to giving priority to the building of my new site and creating the content for it, I'm also way behind on the time I should be spending in Live Chat and helping people out with answers to their questions. Again, I can and will catch up on that as I'm keeping a tally and I feel that the numbers to my target are achievable within the rest of the time available.

Things Get Easier With Persistence

When I built my first website I struggled with setting up my domain specif e-mail, my webmail account and my Gravatar. I've done with my new site with relative ease and got it all up and running properly in a few hours.

I also found a different way of creating menu tabs in my website by using the Categories function in Wordpress rather than creating pages, removing the Custom link and placing posts under them in the menu. Grateful thanks to Leo Emery for this training of his that I came across, as it makes the site neater and more manageable.

So here I am in the middle of the pen-ultimate week, ahead on some things but behind on others, but not desperately so. I honestly feel as though I've made more progress this past 4 weeks than at any time in the 2 and a bit years I've been with Wealthy Affiliate and that is down almost entirely to having a specific deadline to work to.

I can't recommend the Super Affiliate Challenge highly enough, so if you haven't done it and you're frustrated by lack of progress this time next year, get yourself on it. You'll be very pleasantly suprised at how motivated it makes you.

My key lesson on that last point is that we don't so much have to be motivated to get to work, but we also have to get to work in order to get ourselves motivated. Getting results keeps the mojo fire burning, gettting busy, whether we feel like it or not, gets the results.

Onwards and upwards folks. I'll look forward to having a beer with my fellow SAC's in Vegas plus a few more of you who I know will get there!
