Progress So Far- First Post
Hello WA world! My first post here so just a super quick post to give an update of where I'm at with my website and in general 😊
>> I. AM. LOVING. IT!! <<
I was referred to WA by my brother when I told him I was going to rebuild my website but focus on a completely different area: Style and Fashion. I had previously blogged from a counsellor's perspective, giving personal and relationship advice though after some pretty enormous life changes, I no longer felt aligned to do that kind of work and have moved into a more creative space.
So far I have posted 5 posts on my site and after applying for quite a few affiliates through Rakuten, Viglink and Awin, I recieved a few rejections BUT just yesterday I have been accepted by a few affiliates, with 2 of them being favourite shops of mine to buy from so you can imagine my level of excitement! I jumped on the sites straight away to shop and find products to share with my readers. They have such great products which made it really easy though still getting my head around sharing products. I have also changed my instagram account and created a Facebook Page and signed up for mailchimp (Though still figuring out how to use this..? 🤷🏻♀️) and though I had hoped that I could post more frequently, I am doing a lot more work than probably some others because I have been doing all the modelling, styling, photographing, graphics design and next week will be doing my first DIY YouTube tutorial. This is because my website is about styling tips and tricks for petite (5'4" and under) women and really needs specific visuals to demonstrate what I'm writing about in the blog. So I feel like averaging one post a week right now is actually really good. The content is good quality and 100% authentic so that is really important for me and my brand. I really feel like the hard work will pay off down the track financially though I'm having so much fun regardless and what I am creating is of great value for those that are reading! Which is really important to me!
The WordPress theme that I have chosen has capacity for a shop so at this stage I have a few second hand products for sale though I am also doing a short fashion course which is really helping me create my own label which I plan to sell through my website later on. Developing myself as a writer with this blog is a lot of fun but developing myself as a business woman, and an artist/designer has been even more fun! It's fun exploring more about myself and creating ways to personally express my ideas and thoughts. Hoping to release my own label next year (probably after I have built a bit more of an audience) and I am beyond excited about getting the designs on my own body, let alone someone elses'. #livinthedream
Aside from that, to stay motivated, I keep my goals manageable and try my best to post one blog post a week and two social media posts per week.
Juggling even that amount gets hectic too as there are a lot of tasks involved in that as well keeping up with the requirements of my course and caring for my children, working part time etc but each morning, I try to meditate and then I write a few tasks to do that day, sometimes more tasks for later in the week come to mind so I make note of those as well. This means I pretty much have an ongoing to do list and scheduler on my phone that I keep deleting and updating as I go. This system works well for now so I'll keep going with it though feel free to share what system you find supportive!
Anyway, thanks for reading. It's great to be part of a community like this! Stay stylish 😉
