I have an ego problem!
I've never built a business before...I don't know if I can do this...Do you think I have what it takes to make it in business...
I have repeatedly bombarded Kyle and other mentors here at WA with these statements before I quit WA 5 months ago(now, I'm back). Something I learned from observing myself - when a person makes these kinds of statements habitually, you are sure that he will quit and never make it in the real world of business.
I had a revelation about myself - I have an ego problem!
As I spent some time reflecting on my cognitive patterns and behaviors, I realized that my problem was not necessarily a lack of confidence or ability. Quite the contrary, my problem was my darn ego.
I was afraid of failing. Seriously, what do you have to lose if you don't make it after doing WA? Close to nothing. Really. You "waste" a monthly membership fee of $29 dollars. Time invested in building your website. The fees for owing your own domain names. Some other hidden costs along the way.
I don't know about you - but the cost of starting a business through WA is nothing comparing to building a physical store. And the risk? Close to nothing.
So what was it that was stopping me from going full out with this? My ego...I can't bear the thought of failing, even if it's not really going to cost me anything but time and energy. Man, I was too good to fail...
Time to kick my own ass...Have you kicked yours?

I always have to ask myself if it's a fear of failure...or a fear of success. I mean what will life look like if we succeed. Can we handle the responsibilities. Just a thought...

I relate to this SO much! A lot of my mental hangups are feeling like I'm going to put myself out there online and fail, then everyone will know I'm a failure and laugh at me. It sounds incredibly silly when I write it to someone else or say it out loud, but it's at the core of my hesitations. I have to battle it every day and just do it anyway.

Good on you for coming back. That takes courage! We all have egos and you're being honest about yours. It actually becomes fun when you can catch yourself and observe your ego as if you're external to it. When I manage this and it is aware that I'm seeing it for what it is, it scampers off very fast. But it will be back... :)
