Good Evening / DOMAIN Changing Question !
My website has been running for almost a week with a domain (always had it)
Happens that I just bought another domain which I like better ( and hopefully will encourage more people to click)
How I change the domain on my website ?
Or perhaps I have to setup domain forwarding (rather not)
I understand that I have to change the hosting settings of my new domain at Namecheap (the domain seller)
Thank You

Hi Javier.
Assuming you have your sites hosted with WA - if you go into "Build My Website" - you can click on "Move" next to your domain name.
You can then select your new domain. Your site will then be transferred to the new domain. It will still exist on the old one, and the search engines will still have it indexed - however moving in this way, sets up what's called a 301 redirect - so when anyone clicks on an indexed link in the search engines, they are immediately transferred to the same page on your new site. The search engine indexing bots will soon learn this, and your content on your old site will drop off the search engines, and the new site will get indexed.
This is the purpose of 301s...
I hope this helps?
All the best, Mark
OK Mark...Thanks so much.Maybe I'll just make a new website but the 301 option is good too
Hi Javier.
You don't have to make a new website - if all you want to do is change your domain name. Just click on the "Move" button, and you can transfer your site to the new domain - WA will take care of the 301's etc.
All the best, Mark
You can not change your domain name on your site you would have to start a whole new site with new content nothing duplicated from the first.

Go ahead if you want to with Mark's suggestion, but I wouldn't bother - simply because it's your content that will drive traffic not the domain name. :) Beverley
