I just ran googles new developer tool (link below) below and it reported that I have images without alt attributes. I have hundreds of images on my site so I don't plan on sea
Alt attributes are addressed in this manner Remy, and you will need to add your ALTs to each and every page and post once you are done adding them to your Media Library.
There are no shortcuts, example, plugins available to fix this at this point in time.
thanks,
How important are they really to SEO?
Last time i asked the question was about six months ago and I got the response that they could be considered like extra curricula activities.
Good if you can but not vital and not core business activities.
I did the exercise about six months ago, went through 60 posts individually and added alt tags.
It is not a small task, now I have about another 40 posts with 80% of the images within them having alt tags so will be like finding a needle in a haystack.
If you want your content to rank high in SERPs the ALT tags are to be taken seriously.
On the off chance that you are the only one offering information on your niche, then you quit possibly could rank high in search results... but I wouldn't count on that.
Always add your ALT tags with each image you upload to use BEFORE inserting then into your posts, going forward.
You will still need to add the ALT tags to the images you've embedded into posts... just so you know.
I went through this last summer with two old website that had over 100 posts EACH. Time consuming but worth it when it comes to Google love, going forward.
I went through all my posts today one by one. I started out adding them, and then stopped a ways in... ugh! I will definitely make a habit of adding them again every time. what a headache lol.
But that headache will go away once you have completed the task and you will reap the reward, I'm sure.

Hey Remy,
You can go to your Media Library, click on the first image, add your ALT tag making sure to describe your image for screen readers only, click the arrow to move to the next image... and repeat... until your entire Media Library have ALT tags installed. My traffic has dropped 50% in the last 28 days (from 800 odd organic traffic down to 400). Anyone know of any recent changes to google algorithms?
That is really unpleasantly. It is a hred fight keeping the rank. Google is changing (according to many resources) the algorithms up to 700 times per day! You never know what comes up! Hard stuff!
Best regards!
funny thing is igor that my average position hasnt changed at all, still sitting around 13.
I am not wondering about it that much! Traffic is of course also a very important metrics, but actually, algorithms are very complex. So, if Google "thinks" your page or post is so valuable that deserves good rank, you will get it that rank.
Best regards!
thanks everyone. I think I will be putting more effort into getting traffic outside of organic traffic.
I have never understood google or their algorithms. They seem to change them at will

Remy,
Sorry to hear that so much traffic lost hope someone finds an
answer for you I am to new luck if I get one visitor a day :(
I went from 2,100 clicks down to 1,350 clicks a month in a period of 8 weeks. I guess it was the August 'update' of algorithms that did it. I read here that many sites suffered. I wonder if anyone knows the reasons behind this. And if Google can update with detrimental effects, they should also be able to update with beneficial effects. Very frustrating!
Clearly if one site suffers and traffic foes down then other sites must benefit with their traffic going up.
The real question is what to do to comply or benefit from the changes.
Not that I'm aware of but I will checking for answers. Thank you for asking this very important question.
Yes I heard of the algo change. Many sites are suffering same. Doesn't seem right, does it? We play by google's rules, we do all the work the right way, later down the line google changes the goal posts and sticks its middle finger up at us and laughs.
Makes you think "Well, if google is going to punish me even tho I do things by the book, why the heck should I do things by the book any more?"
What do they really want??
I was hit really bad, and I'm barely struggling now to even get my posts indexed!
It's really time to consider other traffic sources. It seems Google is messing with peoples faithfulness
I am starting to think it is content related Bell. Google has illustrated via YouTube that they are doxing people who don't share the same political views as they do. Part of the bigger clamp down on freedom of speech within the Internet.
We read the other day that Google changed its algorithms over 500 times over the past year, i.e. over twice every three days. Makes your head spin!

I just heard a radio story on commercial radio here in Australia saying that google had announced it will shut down google plus.
Is it true?
Hey Remy,
This answer may help sort things out better: So google plus is going, what do we use now? Hope you find this helpful.
yah -- must a huge one to shut it down like that plus likely also the revenue-side as well ... 💲
Yeah I’m keeping my eyes peeled for updates. I can’t see them losing much revenue though google is a juggernaut in the webworld
Hi Remy...yes shutting down the social network but supposedly keeping the business side. I don’t see how that’s possible so I don’t plan on using them much.
