Time to Visa
4
Today I decided I wanted to start working on course number 2 and therefore go premium because I felt the need for more information to keep going. Turns out that with this kind of subscription you need a visa or other credit card attached to your paypal account in order to pay. I might miss out on the bonus but hey... I was planning on getting a visa for some time now anyway for other purposes as well so who knows... it might arrive just in time... 3 days 8 hours 45 min and 30 seconds as we speak :D
Have a great day all!

You should be able to pay directly from PayPal, or with any debit or credit card. That said, some banks are wary of "virtual" goods internationally and routinely decline such transactions, you sometimes have to contact the card issuer and ask them to manually force the transaction through. You can also use pre-paid or gift VISA or MasterCard cards or vouchers. :) Rich.
Hi Rich, thanks for the quick reply. How do I go about paying directly from PayPal? I try "skipping" when it asks to add a card but it doesn't let me. I noticed this before with other payments. Sometimes paypal asks for a card, other times it's fine without... It would be nice to get it done and not have to wait for my visa because it can take up to 5 business days ;)
Thanks for your help!
I "think" but I'm not certain that you might need to have a PayPal credit balance to be able to pay by PayPal itself. If you don't, then I guess the transaction defaults to the bank or card that's on file and it's up to them to accept or reject a "virtual" international transaction for non-physical goods. I do know a lot of Members have called their banks or credit card providers and succeeded in getting them to "force" the transaction through after passing a security check. It's undoubtedly an anti-fraud measure. :) Rich.
My PayPal balance is sufficient to cover the expenses of the subscription. It's probably like you say a safety measure. I believe I was able to always avoid or skip that step for one time payments. Perhaps it is different for monthly subscriptions.
Hmmm. It might be that unless there's a source from which PayPal knows it's allowed to retrieve future sums for "virtual" goods it won't permit you to set up a recurring payment. I'm not sure what else I can advise except to open a ticket with PayPal and ask them why they're not allowing you to pay your sub. with your balance or keep your fingers x'd that your VISA card turns up asap. :) Rich.
I'm guessing it's gonna be the later for now... :) We'll see how things turn out and how fast my bank works :) Off to work now. Thanks for the assistance Rich, have a nice day!
You too. :) R.
