It is pretty appar­ent that many now know the famil­iar path to retire­ment is no longer as strong as it once was. There is no guar­an­tee that work­ing for a corporation for 30 years and retir­ing com­fort­ably is still a safe route. Yes, it can still be done but no longer with the same con­fi­dence as before. In today’s world unfor­tu­nately, that once-secure safety net has been reduced to a form of gambling.

It has been this recent his­tory that has moti­vated many peo­ple to look beyond that new real­ity towards dif­fer­ent hori­zons. One of the most promis­ing such hori­zon is the inter­net and the ever-growing social media arena. Where there are num­bers, there are opportunities!

Online oppor­tu­ni­ties are not only increas­ing in num­bers but have gar­nered vast atten­tion for one sim­ple rea­son: start­ing a busi­ness oppor­tu­nity on the inter­net is a very small out­lay of cash as com­pared to the tra­di­tional brick and mor­tar busi­ness. It is not even close! One can lit­er­ally fund an online oppor­tu­nity for less than a monthly salary of the aver­age work­ing per­son. Let that sink in!

Essen­tially, because of this finan­cial fact, the risk of start­ing a busi­ness is no longer con­sid­ered “a risk in the tra­di­tional sense”. How­ever, it is not advis­able to just “jump in” either. By doing that you open your­self up to the “next shiny object” syn­drome. Find­ing a men­tor online can be achieved with research. First, look at many oppor­tu­ni­ties and com­pile a list of them. Use the search engines such as Google to find busi­ness oppor­tu­ni­ties. Do not jump into any pro­gram yet no mat­ter that the cost is low. They may tell you there is a sense of urgency but, in real­ity, 99.9% of the time there is not. A good viable com­pany will be there next month so what is the hurry? Remem­ber the “shiny object”! Make this a search and fact-finding edu­ca­tional ven­ture only. Time is your friend not your enemy so stay dis­ci­plined and true to your path.

I rec­om­mend start­ing with “affil­i­ate mar­ket­ing” in your search which will get you going in the right direc­tion. Next go to Ama­zon and Click­bank for learn­ing some details. Seek and click on where it says “affil­i­ate” on each of those sites and you will imme­di­ately start read­ing some good infor­ma­tion that will also help guide you. At this point, you will be well on your way and mov­ing in a good direc­tion. Con­tinue your research until you find what you could enjoy or envi­sion your­self doing. Once you have made that deci­sion, start look­ing for the best way to get started.
