HAPPY FATHRRS DAY!

I had the best dad in the world. In my eyes he hung the moon and the stars. He was a loving, kind, sweet, generous man who saw no persons color. He made friends with everyone and he was a gentle soul.

You know a good dad is a dad who spends time with their kids making memories and providing and protecting his family.

I have so many fond memories of my dad. I would like to share them with you.

I can remember when I was a little girl he would blow dry and comb my long hair after I got out of the bathtub.

I can remember him teaching me to ride a bike. How he hung on to the back until I was ready for him to let go.

I can remember getting up on Saturday morning and watching "Bugs Bunny", "The Road Runner", "The Three Stooges", "The Little Rascals", "Fat Albert".

I can remember him getting me down in the floor and tickling me till I would pee on myself. And mom saying "Peanut, that was his nickname, don't tickle her till she pees on herself". To this day you still can't tickle me.

I can remember going to Grandmas on Sunday's to visit.

My mom used to go to the beauty shop every Saturday to get her Beehive hairdo done. My dad and I would go across the street to the cafe called "Ross's Diner". We would have Steak and Brown Gravy sandwiches and glass bottled coke. They had a counter that went around the outside of the room with stools and no tables. That diner is still there today 40 years later. But the Steak and Brown gravy sandwiches aren't the same without daddy.

He would take me skating every Saturday and drop me off at the rink and come back and get me after we took mom to the beauty shop. Even if he had to work half a day, he would take me when he got off work.

One day when I was younger my daddy smoked and he lit of a cigarette, I asked him to quit smoking, he quit that day.

He was drinking beer one day and had drank probably three beers and I ask him not to drink anymore that day and he didn't.

When the album by Lynn Anderson came out that had Delta Dawn on it, that was my favorite song, daddy searched all over town for the album to buy it for me but we couldn't find it.

When I was 15 years old, this boy from another high school ask me on a double date to the Homecoming Dance. I had to beg daddy for two weeks till he finally gave in and said I could go.

My daddy always had time for me. He made me feel special. I was Daddys little girl.

To all the dads out there the one thing kids want the most is your time. There's nothing more precious you could give them. Never be to busy to spend time with your family and make special memories. Even if, your kids are 30 years old it's never to late. You can always take a vacation together, eat supper together one night a week, go bowling together one night a week. Pick up the phone on a regular basis and call your kids don't wait around for them to reach out to you. Plant yourself in their lives. It's never too late to build memories. Fathers of the young ones read them a bedtime story, bake cookies, take them to the pool and play Marco Polo, take them to the park and swing on the swings with them or slide down the slide, take them fishing, play basketball with them.

Spending time with your kids and making memories is a once in a lifetime chance. No do overs. So make it great, you won't regret it. Then your kid will be saying "My dad hung the moon and the stars in my eyes".

You know one of the most important things about being a parent is to lead by example. "Kids are a product of their environment". When they grow up they mimic the actions and beliefs of their parents. So you want to raise your kids not to act like morons, and to have good morals and values and with strong beliefs about being a good person, life, love, how to treat others, and in my beliefs, our almighty God. If you are a racist, your kids most likely will grow up to be racist. But if you treat others like you want to be treated and look beyond the color of someone's skin or their ethnic background good changes are you kid will be just like you. It don't always work out that way 100 percent of the time but 9 times out of 10 they grow up to be mini you. Therefore teach your kids to be good human beings and the value of love of all people, being kind, having good morals and values, and the value of hard work and in my case about God. Then you have no regrets for you have done your job as a parent.

Once again HAPPY FATHRRS DAY. MAY YOU HAVE THE BEST DAY EVER!!!!!!!.

Have a great weekend,

Regina

Awesome remembrances of an AWESOME father, Regina!

Jeff

That's the ideal dad. However, a lot of dads are genuinely busy providing for their families. And many more are not...

That’s true but that’s when you have to make time even if it’s just 30 mins a day. A little time is better than no time. My daddy was very sick but he always had time for me even when he didn’t feel like it he made time. There are ways to spend time with your kids sometimes you just have to be creative. Happy Father’s Day. Have a great day.

There is a saying if you want you can if you t want to there are lot's of alibi. Fatherhood's responsibility is to have time for the children.

Thank you Francis. Your welcome. Have a great day.

The time is so short and kids grow up so fast, always good to create and share quality time.

I agree. I think it’s awesome when parents try so hard to spend quality time with their kids. Have a great day.
