Pick Up Where I Left It (But Where Did I Leave It?)

Another Thanksgiving Day has come and gone. It seems the older I get, the faster the years go. I remember when I was a kid it seemed that turkey was in the oven for two whole days before we got to eat. Now, I blink once and it's done, blink again and dinner is over!

"A Christmas Carol" play was a great success. We had six sold-out performances! It brought many people to community live theater for the first time in their lives, and they found they enjoyed it. A great responsive audience makes all the practice, line memorizing, set building, costume making, and lack of sleep worth the effort.

Now it's back to putting my creative energy into my websites - and working through more WA lessons. And I am so glad to be back! I wonder how many members saw their first successes while I was away, how many questions were asked that I might need the answers to. How many people have found their inspiration when they first started building their site? All while I was away from my laptop.

Time to pick up where I left off. Those goals won't reach themselves and I know that those who succeed have worked for it and deserve their success. I still want to count myself in those numbers!

Welcome back! Me too!

Good luck in picking up where you left off. :) Beverley

Welcome back! I am so happy for you that the show was such a success! Now onto your success here! :) Christa

Thank you! I remember I was trying to figure out how to get social media icons to appear on my site when I decided to take a break. Still trying to figure that out.

I'm not sure I understand what a "plug-In" is. When I read the descriptions of them, I don't understand alot of what they do. I stick with what Kyle recommends mostly, but his latest lessons all say to share on social media. I don't remember him ever telling us how to do that.

Have you gotten to level 4 yet?

I am on level 4, course 2. Plus, I think I just figured it out. I keep reminding myself that there is probably nothing I can come across that someone else at WA has already done.... so I just looked it up. A bunch of people recommended AddThis.com. I tried it and now I have lovely icons across the left side of my site! Just beautiful!

I am so glad you are happy! There are several plugins I have read about but I don't like the ones on the side if they are over the text, though I have seen that in part that depends on the theme. I haven't narrowed it down quite yet, still checking them out!

I guess this plug-in works with my theme. They appear on the left margin and do not cover anything of value. I wouldn't like it if they did, either. I'd find that annoying as a visitor to any site, so I think my visitors would, too.

I am a Pinterest junkie. I downloaded their "Pin-It" icon, so now it's easy to pin from anywhere on the web, just whatever pictures are on my screen. It works, too!

If you want to check it out, see my website crochetluv.com. I just added a new post.

Have a great day!

Hi Rebecca & Christa, according to popular opinion the WP plugin-
'Share This' is the best one. Security is a big issue with plug-ins that aren't WP ones, compatibility with WP themes sometimes also. Updated WP plug-ins have built in security, a major thing on todays buggy internet. I hope this helps. (-: Jon
Also if your site is slow, the W3 cache plug-in is great for that.

Thank you so very much Jon for this valuable information! Christa :)

YW, thought I'd spread a little Thanksgiving cheer & love to my peeps sis.Ya know me.:-) :-) J

I really enjoy your site! Do you still live in the Cleveland area?
On my computer your icons do go over the content, fyi. I will be revisiting your site. Left you a comment.

Thank you!

I live in Waterloo IL now, right across the Mississippi from St. Louis. No, not very close to Ferguson...lol.

Guess I'll look into a different plug-in for those icons! Still working on it. Thanks for all your help and interest! One of the reasons I stick with WA - you can't get real people with real suggestions and real experience anywhere else!

Isn't that the truth!
Oh that is a nice area! I only asked because if you had still lived in the Cleveland area I would've suggested lunch some day! :)
My grandparents lived in Wright City, Missouri just about 35 miles outside of St. Louis.

Your a great bro, Jon! :)
