A word about StockUnlimited

Hello. I just wanted to share this with everyone just in case it might help a couple people out in the future.

A few weeks ago I was looking for a good image site, and someone in here recommended stockunlimited. Said to sign up for $9, download a bunch of pics and then cancel.

I ended up signing up for the year, but then didn't like what they offered, so I cancelled (they have a 7 day get your money back thing).

It ended up taking like 3 weeks, 3 emails, a phone call, and then having to send a signed form to get my refund, but I did eventually get it.

But what I really wanted to share is that stockunlimited told me that it does not allow people to use their images after you are no longer a member. It said it on the email and cancellation notice they sent. Also, I specifically asked the woman I was speaking with on the phone, and she said you can only use their images while you are a premium member.

So, I just wanted to let everyone know, just in case they had signed up, downloaded, and then bailed out. It seems really weird to me, but I don't want anyone to accidentally get in trouble.

Hope you are having a wonderful day :)

I'm glad you got your refund sorted!

I'd definitely recommend that members check out the range at Stock Unlimited before purchasing, as it is limited in comparison to one of the more expensive libraries like Adobe.

However, I think you've got slightly confused, you can't continue to access and use their content after you've cancelled your subscription, but anything you've downloaded during your subscription you may continue to use.

9. Termination. This License is effective until it is terminated by You. You can terminate this License by:
cancelling Your StockUnlimited subscription if You have purchased a StockUnlimited subscription plan;
deleting and destroying all Content downloaded by You and in Your possession which has not been used to Reproduce any Licensed Work(s); and
ceasing to use the Content for any purpose.
For the avoidance of doubt, You may continue to use the Licensed Work(s) only after the termination of StockUnlimited subscription by You.

I always recommend that members read the T&Cs; of every program they use, preferably before they use it!

Hi Rich, Yes tthey do they are beautiful.photos' I purchase them by the bundle, but I still opt for the free photos if they have what i'm looking for. .

Yes, I was looking for my photos in my file and they were gone including the ones that were paid for Was my time up and nobody told me?. Well i got my free photos and they came in handy.(smile)

Yes, this is what I read. To me it reads that your license is terminated when you cancel your subscription...I even asked the woman on the phone...

Oh well, either way, I deleted everything I had from them. Did not have a great experience with them. I wanted to check out the images first, but that was not an option. They made me purchase a plan first...oh well, glad I am done with them. Just thought I should let people know about it.

Thanks for your reply : )

No, you may continue to use any image you've downloaded as a paying member, that's when it gets licensed to you.

I also don't understand why you keep saying you couldn't check out the images first. You don't have to be a member to see the images at http://www.stockunlimited.com just enter a word in the search bar, such as "dogs" to see the images they hold of dogs, etc.

I just went and checked it out and sure enough I was able to see the images. I don't know how that happened to me the first time. I must have went in from a link that took me directly to the sign up page and didn't realize that wasn't the main page.

Thanks for letting me know I was wrong.

I used to do my links manually, hut now i'm gonna start using the links in the airplane, and make sure that they are put where the link name it, sign up free, join, ect...

I learned early in college that writing can be expensive, as we had to do many essays, Look for photos that offer FREE along with downloads, it is perfectly legal .
Elanda

Be careful because 'free' doesn't mean they are. I did the 'free' thing and am in the process of changing ALL of my images now so I won't get sued.
I wrote a few blog posts about this and got lots if comments. Some members got sued or warning letter to remove them.

Hi PatsyC, that is because the fine line have not been read. Some want the exposure and may ask to be identified on your website for the photos. Some which are my favorites may already have their logo indented in the photos themselves for exposure, which I don't mind because they are giving me something free.. I have been to class with thousands of lawyers and we use the same photo option. I don't mind giving them their cite , because they worked hard for it.

Hi, I find many don't read the terms thoroughly.
When you join the logo or 'watermark' isn't there when you use the images. Otherwise who would use images plastered with the logo covering it.

We all have our own experiences and it's great to share them so we all learn :)

Hi PastsyC, I am not a photographer, or selling photos. what I'm dong is to get my content read. I'm glad you have taken m'much interest in it. I'm doing what is right and legal by citing, not to get credit that don't belong to me. That is why you are having these legal issues you forgot to cite work that do not belong to you. They are only for usage, borrowed not to keep. Do you understand now.

Hi. I would like to offer also, many think that only words have to be cited. Photos have to be cited if you did not do the actual work. If you don't give that person credit you could be sued.

I don't have any legal issues?
I'm not sure if my images are legal so I changed them all. I finished the last ones off tonight. I'm good.

I did not have legal issues so there was nothing to 'cite'.
There was nothing for me to understand I didn't do anything wrong.

I KNOW that already, I never had that problem at all.

I'm sorry, I don't think you are wrong in anything. Many think this is new ,bu if you look in magazines you'll see that the photos are all cited. I use to think they were signatures of the writer when it was the photo being cited. I didn't know then , now I know.

It's a myth that by citing the copyright owner you can you use an image for free. It would be the same as saying it's ok to steal a picture from an art gallery and saying it's fine because I've stuck a label on it saying "stolen from...".

"Current Fair Use image copyright laws say that you’re financially liable for posting copyrighted images, even if you link back to the photo source and cite the photographer’s name."

Hi Jamie, sorry to hear about your experience. It seems like they ALL suck, ripping off others.

I wrote a handful of blog posts about this topic so we can all learn and this one was referred many times. Now to hear this.

A fellow member Richard (@RICH) knows a lot about this and helped out many members to stay away from specific ones. I let him know about your blog post so he is aware of what's going on.

Thanks for posting this and I hope you can find replacements for your images. I'm not sure if mine are legal so I'm in the process of changing them all. I received a lot of help from the comments in my posts. I am using my merchant that I promote who has 100's for my niche, and wish I knew this was available before I added all my images.

Thank you and have a wonderful day also :)

Thanks for the comment and for spreading the word. really glad I figured it out before I went too far with them.

I have mostly been using pixabay. Have you heard of much trouble with their free images?

Hi Jamie, you are welcome.

Lots of comments for me to join Pixabay which is the worst and many members use them. They have sued people, and not all of their images are safe.
Richard left comments about their terms and it's scary. StockUnlimited is what he suggests to everyone.

There are a few members who mentioned in the comments that they got sued, I can't remember all the details.

If you go to my profile page and look at my blog posts there are a few there and they all have comments and suggestions. I would grab all the links but I'm on my cell.
