250 words a day
250 words a day
Do you ever have the feeling that your week is shorter than the week of other members here at WA? I do. Yesterday I posted a question and the answers came swiftly from an Ambassador and another Member (and very grateful I am).
It made me wonder. How do they manage? No doubt they keep their businesses running and maintained, add growth, write and read, and still answer questions minutes after they are posted.
Do their weeks have 9 or 10 days?
I have a full time, very demanding job that even requires me to take work home (mostly marking and preparation) and leaves me exhausted by the time the weekend comes around. Weekend is WA time.
It seems to me that success in Affiliate Marketing depends on three things of equal importance: (1) learning, (2) reading blogs, (3) writing blogs.
Writing blogs is possibly the most time consuming and difficult part. Publishing regularly influences whether or not Google likes us just a little more, or a little less.
So I devised a plan, a timetable, for myself. 250 words a day. I start the week knowing what I want to write about, and I write a lousy 250 words every day. Poor quality mostly, because it’s late at night.
By the time the weekend comes around, I have 1,250 words to play around with and turn into something that might be an acceptable page on my website, at least for now. Until more study shows me where and how to edit to improve the page.
250 words a day is not much, and you may laugh at me for such an amateurish attempt to build a business.
But I look at this way. One page a week of up to 1,000 words each is 52 pages a year. And that’s a pretty good website for Affiliate Marketing, provided of course all other variables meet the demands.
So, 250 words a day on one topic a week keeps me focused and disciplined.

I know exactly how you feel, I have a 40H a week job, a wife and 2 kids. I don't want to but anything aside but I still want to be successful. I usually work on my website late at night when everybody to bed. It is a good idea to have a daily word count, I might use your idea.
Even harder with small children. I guess we have to look at writing our daily quota as another job that needs to be done. It is as important as our day job. All the best.
