If I sign up for Amazons affiliate program, is this just for their .com site or will it also cover their international sites, Canada for example?
It is just for their .com (US) site. However, there is a plugin you can use called Amazon Link Engine (by Geniuslink) that automatically redirects the user to Amazon's local site. Make sure you apply to each different country that you sell to in Amazon affiliates, however, as otherwise Genius will redirect the traffic to the local Amazon but you will not monetize it.
The plugin may be found within Wordpress; you will also need to sign up for Geniuslink at https://www.geni.us/. Up to 1000 redirections/month is free.
