I got a phone call today offering promotions and ranking for my website from a third party, to be on the top ten guaranteed. I'm open to it if it will pay for itself or come

Yes, paid advertising helps to boost ranks when you're either hit by a Google update or when you are just starting out.
However, I'd suggest you could do it yourself after a bit of research.

They'll do nothing! Put up a cute landing page and pay 1/10th of what you pay them for Adwords. You'll expect it the same from startups or billion dollar companies.

I know this because that's what I do for others! :)

Cheers.

If you really want to promote your website, you can do so yourself through google adwords, for example.

I however believe that companies that do this for you, will charge you more than just the adwords fee.

Hi Steve, I already took your advise,, and set up an adwords account, talked with a rep, and I'm going through their site tour, very helpful. Now if it drives traffic, I'll be thrilled. I know that developing a site that will score well on it's own will take time, so I'd like to boost the odds a little with doing an ad campaign.

That sounds slightly fishy. Be careful of scams!

I understand that sites appear on google through their natural ranking, but that they can also appear and be boosted by paid advertising. That's what they're offering.

Course 2 lesson 6 asks us to comment on websites,, and then request comments on our own. The issue I'm encountering is there's a requirement to sign up for a Gravatar account

Are you using the same email that is connected to your website?

I used the email address I use to log in here, the same address I used to comment in the SiteComments platform before, and there was no direction that I could see to change that, not in the video either. It wasn't until I tried to comment again that there was any mention of getting a Gravatar account.

Did it do that at more than one site that you tried to comment on?
