What I learned from Spamming!

I spent my day reading strategies from other online marketers and was quite excited about sharing what I had deemed to be 'resources' with the community. I took my time and put together an informative post that, in my opinion, would be to the benefit of new and established persons alike. I inserted my tags, published and was ready to go to bed.

After checking my email one last time I was just about to close out of WA when I noticed the red notification envelope. Upon opening...BAM...post DELETED. AND IT WAS FROM KYLE. My first thought was, "What the heck is he doing up at this time and what did I do wrong?" The automated message cleared up some stuff relating to spamming and the content of my post which led to the automatic deletion, warning and encouragement.

But here are some quick lessons I learned:

  • Go with your gut feeling - Before even writing the post I got the feeling that something may be wrong if I blogged about external resources, namely websites and eBooks
  • When in doubt, ask the community. They will know better - It crossed my mind as well, but my own mind gave me overriding reasons not to 'bother anyone' about such a small matter
  • Don't focus on the deletion or warning. Focus on the encouragement and learning - As feelings go, the first reaction was bad due to reprimand, but progressing self control can help to shift focus to where it belongs
  • Apologize quickly and stay on course - Which is exactly what I did. It helped me to feel better about myself as I moved on with my ideas and even found time to still share something of value.

Thanks for sharing what you've learned from spam

You're welcome my friend. It was a good lesson, if I may say so myself.

Those who truly want to learn a subject will read around it, taking information from multiple sources to evaluate, as indeed you show by your initial actions. However many people including many here just want to be told an answer.

It is of no surprise that individual providers of information would want to protect that. A store would not place adverts for a competitor on its walls now would it.

I would recommend placing such a blog post on your own site which of course you could reference here under your list of websites.

Thank you for the post Arthnel

Dave
