Not A Lot Of Business Done

Introduction

Good Evening to all you lovely people at the WA Family, as always do so hope that you are all keeping both safe and well.

Realise that is a Friday evening, but as you will discover I do have my reasons for writing this now.

This is a week that whilst I have been busy, it is unfortunate that very little time has been spent on taking the business any further forward.

On Saturday we were able to go to a football match for the first time in some seventeen months, it was great to be with my son, grandson and great grandson again, plus other friends at the match. Had not seen my great grandson since lock down.

The Past Few Days

Despite my best intentions, I realised on Monday that I had made a note to concentrate on another matter, in fact I started this over the weekend.

When it was the 90th Anniversary of The Royal British Legion, I produced a concert at Derby Catherdral starring Lesley Garratt. To celebrate the centenary of the Branch, we have decided to hold a concert featuring a local choir and colliery band.

They already have the bones in place, but wanted to check that I am happy with both musical and verbal content. Knowing that I had done the concert for the 90th, they asked for my input as well.

We decided that If I could find all my notes and drafts of that concert then it would make life easier.

This led me to spending not only some of the weekend, but all of Monday searching USB's to see what I had still got.

Have been able to find some material on The Legion for them, but nothing on the concert, except my signed copy of the programme.

This means that we now have another meeting on Tuesday, I can see myself having to try to remember what I wrote on The RBL all those years ago, then redoing it.

Going through all my archived material has given me another headache, finding material which I had totally forgotten about, but which will be most useful for my current thoughts.

The rest of the time has been spent making notes on what I have found.

In quiet moment have found myself recharging my kindle and reading a couple of novels, this has also done me a lot of good.

Did spend a very nice day at the cricket yesterday with people that I have known for a very longtime, the weather was gorgeous, did put on a lot of sun cream.

The Next Few Days

Apart from the meeting on Tuesday and shopping on Wednesday, I have decided to have the week off. This will enable me to clear my mind and work on the garden, plus fixing a few tiles in the bathroom.

Not doing a great deal this week has made me realise that I do need a total break, away from the business and computer.

A holiday which I would very much like is still out of the question as we both feel that it is still not all that safe.

Conclusion

It is surprising, how having to amend your planned week can lead to a total rethink on life and work in general. This is where I am at now. Without a shadow of doubt I have been spending fat too much time on the business, not enough time on the house, garden, my wife or myself.

Do not get me wrong I love working on the business, it keeps my brain alive.

That will do for this week, hope that you all have truly awesome week.

Be Happy, Healthy and Wealthy.

Please do stay safe.

God Bless

Stuart

Hey VH

I didn't even get to emails much so you're probably ahead of me anyway. I did a LOT of manual labor but I don't mind. I like painting AND being out in the sun so it's a perfect match. My MILs neighbors tried to hire me! LOL.

I'm happy to hear that you got out and were able to see family AND enjoy yourself. You need that for your mental/emotional health. All work and no play makes Stuart a boring boy. LOL

I tend to agree with your last paragraph about not spending enough time on the house, garden, your LW (live wife) or you. Those are all very important and that time is never wasted.

You're only give 24 hrs each day. Don't look back one day and regret how you spend those. You can never get time back for a do over!!!!!! You can still keep your brain alive. I know I have a lot of non WA projects on my plate right now as well.

We'll get there. Enjoy your week.

Your VW

Hi VW,

Feeling a little lethargic this morning, it is raining as well, so no gardening at the moment.

Reading your comments has cheered me up immensly.

Even if it was manual labour at least you were in the sun, which is always good, as long as you put on sun cream! If I forget at the cricket because it is dull, I ene up getting wind burn, the wind seems to attack the balcony where I sit.lol.

If it contunues to rain, I can see my plans being drastically altered for this week, if not this week then next as I am going to have a break, Stuart is feeling tired Debbie, so I must sort it out somehow. Suppose the Family Tree could get looked at, that is assuming that I can find the energy to get it all out. lol.

Not feeling sorry for myself, just a little fed up as I did not put a back up plan in place!

Anyway feeling slightly better boring you with my woes, seriously it is good to have someone that I can talk to, even if it is via the net.

Have a great week and do not overdo it either, remember you were thirty earlier this year.

Take care.

Your VH

Hey VH

Well, I'm glad I could cheer you up!!! It's hard to stay focused on rainy days. I just want to sit in bed and read. Even strong coffee doesn't do the trick!

I'm a sun worshipper from way back. My theory is the darker I am, the thinner I look. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!!! Truth is, I feel better with some color. I feel healthier. Perhaps it makes no sense but I'm low maintenance and sun is free.

When I was home, I found out that a fraternity brother of mine passed away in his sleep. His wife didn't know if he had a heart attack or aneurysm. I mean, what a way to go but the point is.....you just never know when you'll live your last day!!! It really hit me hard as we had JUST finished a project together and he had called to say thank you. Who knew that was the last time I'd communicate with him.

Live each day like it's your last and it's ok to not complete your "to do list". It's ok to be lazy sometimes. Between the drive back and forth, the work I did and the heat (my MIL has NO air conditioning), I was worn OUT! It took a lazy day to recoup.

So, don't be hard on yourself. Enjoy your days what ever you are doing. That's my lecture for the week. LOL

Hi VW,

God Bless you for your humour.

Flet better after I wrote to you, as I went for a walk round the garden, planning some changes, that cheered me up as well.

Take care dear l;ady,

Your VH.

Dear VH

Humour is one of the top requirements on my list of criteria for a spouse. Still looking though. What's life if you can't laugh?????

Your VW

Dear VW,

So very true.

Goodnight and God Bless,

Your VH

Great post, Stuart.

I definitely understand that we need a break from time to time.

Glad you had fun at the cricket game.

Myra

Thanks Myra.

Stuart

I hope it all goes well.

Thanks Geoff.

Hi Stuart, we all need a break from time to time in order to relax and recharge the batteries.

Our businesses are important of course, but, not to the extent we end up spending less time with those closest to us and doing things for ourselves as well.

Great to hear you had a fantastic time at the football last week with many generations of the family, occasions like this are priceless.

Have a wonderful weekend my friend.

Many thanks Jessie, hope that you too have a great weekend.

Take care.

Always welcome my friend, I hope for a great weekend too!

Take care Jessie.

Hello Stuart. I'm glad you are well. There's no better time spent, than that with your close family. And the Legion's 90th. Good for you, prioritizing your time. Cheers, Ceri

Trying hard roo Ceri.
