Introduction

Good Morning to all you lovely people at the Great WA Family, as always do so hope that you are all keeping both safe and well. Yes, it really is morning for a change instead of afternoon or evening, the reason is simple I am a lot more organised today, also a lot happier, as I would like to do a lot things today, thought that I would get the most important task done early, allowing me time to do other tasks. Hopefully this will mean me not having to rush later, should the planning go a little awry or not getting done.

The Past Few Days

It would be so easy to blame the weather, but truth be told despite the good that the trip to Torquay did me, it has not been a good week, just not been good at all. Not my physical health, more my mental state, if that is the right way to put it! Just been totally fed up with everything, did speak to a friend also a close cousin and they both said that I have just got to realise that this will happen, and try to understand that it will take a long time to get over losing Yvonne, also that it will almost certainly never go away totally. I do think that I do not want it to go away, but I have got to learn to cope and deal with it, whichever way suits me best, OK rant and moan over, though, I must confess having you wonderful people here does help a great deal, so thank you for that.

As you will gather I have not done a great deal this week, did decide that as it is Yvonne's birthday next week to go away for a few days, as I am not sure how I will handle being here. Went online to Travel Lodge, three days in Skegness just for the room and no food, would cost me more than six days with breakfast cost me in Torquay. So that idea was shelved, instead I have done some retail therapy, added to my stamp collection and also my garden.

In additon when I was in the spare (Guest) bedroom, which is full of junk at the moment, I found a model kit, unopened, it is of HMS Victory, I bought it before Christmas as a present from me to me! The background is simple, many years ago when I was at school I did build plastic models, this contiued when I joined up, when on leave I built a model of HMS Victory, complete with hand tied rigging, I was really proud of this, even put it in a very large plastic bag to keep the dust off, it stood on the landing at home on a chest of drawers, until the day that I came home and Mum said that she was sorry but she had knocked it over. It was a mess, so I threw it out. I have always wanted to build another one, even discussed it wih Yvonne who said but where would you put it, so that was shelved until before Christmas when I saw a kit and bought it. Whilst writing this have just had a light bulb moment where it could go, so that could be a plan when I get bored.

It has remained unopened until this week, it is possible that I might begin to build it, but we will see, could be better for those long winter evenings when I cannot get in the garden.

Talking of which I was actually in there straight after breakfast, when I went down the garden last night to check on the watering I noticed that the path which leads ffrom the kitchen patio to the main garden had a couple of brambles beginning to grow across it, as I am wearing shorts at the moment (OK, Not a pretty sight) did not wish to be scratched by them, so cut them out, as I was doing so noticed that one of my hardy fuschias was growing again, so I cleaned the weeds from around that, and guess what? it really gave me my impetus back. So did my daily jobs, grabbed a coffee, and decided to do my blog to you first, dinner is easy microwave ready meal as it is Sunday, still eating my home grown Raspberries so that is desert sorted.

Ended up chairing the committee meeting again as the Chairman did not turn up, I think that he is too busy being the leader of his party at the Council!

Had a really rubbish day on Friday, but was cheered up when I arrived at the cricket ground chatting to people that I had noot seen for weeks. Good job as the cricket was awful!!

My mood today is a lot better.

The Next Few Days

This will of course depend on a number of things, but if things go according to plan it should be a much better week as I am beginning to relax more and accept what has happend witha clearer train of thought.

On Wednesday instead of going away I wil possibly go to a garden centre and have a decent lunch, but will see how I feel then.

Be happy, healthy and wealthy.

Please do stay safe and take care,

God Bless

Stuart

Appreciate you sharing this Stuart... losses in our lives take different times for all of us to eventually sink in... and it hasn't been long for you....

Stay strong my friend and try to do what you can...

Watching the test match today ( and the positive result) has certainly helped me!

Derbyshire seem to throwing away a good position though... but that could all change tomorrow!!!

Just take care of yourself my dear friend!

👍😊😊😊😊

Thanks Jessie for this, still marching on, tomorrow could be tough but I am going out for the day. Test match result was very good, Derbyshire are having to battle a very flat track!!

Take care and have a great week.

Stuart, so sorry for your loss. That's very hard to bear and has created significant life changes. You are starting to modify your life a little and look out for yourself more. I looked up the HMS Victory model, and it's certainly a beautiful ship and a worthy task to set for yourself. Sometimes creating can produce some moments of joy and achievement. There's also your WA tasks and blog sites to delve into and keep you busy. This is a good community and hopefully, you can find some good engagement and new friends. Best wishes, -Shirley

Thanks for this Shirley, have had a brianwave for one of my sites which could keep me very busy.

Have a great week.

Hey VH

Well, I must say your friend and cousin were both right. I've seen enough of my friends losing spouses to know that the pain never totally goes away. The memories will always be there and be triggered by something you see or a song or anything really. You just learn to accept that and then move on. I can only imagine that it's easier said than done. After years, my friends do still have bad days but generally have made another life. It takes time.

I mean honestly I mourned my cat for several MONTHS and I don't even like cats generally. He was special but if I mourned a cat that long, a spouse is just beyond my comprehension. One day at a time. I think buying yourself a nice lunch would be a nice tribute for her birthday. Maybe start your kit when you get home. You know it will be a rough day.

Have you started helping your grandson with his blog?

I'm going to be busy getting ready to go to NY this week. Instead of monthly treks, this will be my yearly one to see friends and then on to my daughter's house to hang out with my grandbabies who are all growing way too fast. I'm sure at least 2 of the 3 will be taller than me by now although that's not a big feat. lol I'm looking forward to getting out of here for a while.

Well, just wanted to touch base with you. Have a fantastic week and remember one day at a time and one foot in front of the other!!!

Hi VW,

A quick repy in the hope that you get it before your annual visit to NY, do so hope that you enjoy it and have a great time with your family.

Regarding my Grandson's Blog he has decided to work with my eldest Great Grandson instead, think that a future business partnnership could be looming, Eldest Great Grandson certsinly has an eye for business.

Understand about your cat, I still really miss Sammy our last dog, and it is a few years ago.

Will close for now, please drive very safely.

God Bless

Always

I won't be leaving until NEXT Monday. I'll be preparing this week. There's a lot to do before I go. I think I have my tasks worked out for each day and lists of what to do and what to pack. Such a task!!!!!!

1

Not surprised that you are a list person, so very organised, I am sometimes, usually it is a memory thing, then I forget things, like my sun hat when I went to Torquay, I have three and left them all at home, result a new one with Torquay on!!

Nice informative Information sir

Talking to people is important as you adjust. I think you are on the right track. I have been widowed 2 times, and the adjustment time is difficult, personal, but something you can do. Your cousins are right, it
just takes time.

Having a plan helps, and some days nothing will go as planned. Your hobby of gardening is great, and planning for something in the winter is also helpful. Recognizing your mental health needs is just a part
of the process.

As painful as it is, congratulations on your progress.

Hi Sami,

You will certainly understand what I am going through, slowly learning what works and what does not!

Thought that I was hard done too, but to lose two Husbands would have been very hard to take, think that it is not only great that you are coping, but helpful to me.

One thing that I have got to stop is looking at the time, I have all day for me, so what is the rush? If nothing gets done, so what!!

Take care and have a great week.

Stuart

Nice informative Information sir

I’m sorry for your loss, Stuart. I lost someone very dear to my heart right before Christmas, so I know how the ups and downs can go. Keep your faith, and know that God, in his infinite wisdom, is always working behind the scenes. He will carry you through this, if you’ll let Him:) Prayers for you and your family.🙏
Blessings,
Suzi
