Introduction

Good Evening to all you wonderful people at the Great WA Family, as always, do hope that you are all keeping both safe and well.

Thought long and hard about the title for this weeks' blog, I have done a number of varying things I thought that this title seemed to fit the bill! But I will let you be the judge of that.

The one thing that hwas been good is the weather, lovely sunny days, it does make you feel so much better.

The Last Few Days

Think that I will start with a note from Kyle the other day telling me that I was once again an Amassador, seeing my planner for the week, I think that it will be like the other times, a flash in the pan, as I am out even more than last week, due to the VE Day events that I have to attend, but we will see.

Spent Monday at the cricket, until they shook hands and called it a draw, I will settle for that this week!!

Some years ago I bought a hand held strimmer, battery charged, put it on charge and spent sometime trimming some of the bushes which were getting a little out of control, not quite finished but they do look better already.

Weeded the area where the rock garden will go, put down some membrane and then the rocks on top, have been to the Garden Centre and bought ten Alpines, which have been roughly put into position. Had another look at where the Rose Arch will be, and have amended it slightly, as a result the rock garden will be extended by a couple of feet.

Also bought some edging which will sit nicely around the edges, giving me some depth to fill with soil, OK compost!!

Have planted a couple of the bare rooted plants which have been growing nicely into the flower bed which houses Sammy's grave, with three more ready to put it. It is my intention this bed will be filled first, though I hope to start weeding the other one when I can.

I have been able to give some thought to the business this week, I have had a good look at what I can use with regard to content, which has made me decide to have a look at and use a site for which I only have the domain. Appreciate that this will mean building the bits and pieces for this particular site, but, having done a number do have the basics already done, just a little tweaking required (I Hope).

Have carried out my first duties as the Branch President this week, last night I attended the Poppy Appeal Presentation Evening, which was very pleasant, meeting people that I had not seen for a long time, including the daughter of a chap that I was at school with.

Today the Council put on a picnic type event in the grounds of where the old Roman Baths stood, I remember these very well, they have removed them as they were starting to get dangerous, a great shame as I loved to look at them. A good number of stalls were present, including the over priced food stalls. They did have some live acts, one group which were playing music by "the Four Seasons" were very good. Thought that it was very well attended, many people happily sitting on rugs whislt enjoying their hampers filled with goodies.

We did have a couple of stalls, one for the Poppy Appeal the other for the Branch, so I had to put my chain on once more.

Almost forgot, the garage were able to replace my exhaust on Friday, so that is one job less, just more expence!!

The Next Few Days

At the moment I am just not sure what I will be able to do this week, looking at the planner I have just two blank days, expect that if the weather holds, that the garden could do with some work on it.

Hope to work on business when time permits, but most of my busy days are due to the events remembering VE Day. Having said that my glasses are ready to pick up on Tuesday, I know just more expence!!

Think that about raps up this weeks news, except to say my beloved Derby County managed to escape relegation.

Be happy, wealthy and healthy.

Please do stay safe and take care.

God Bless.

Stuart

WOW VH

You're not letting any grass grow under YOUR feet as they say. That's good. It keeps you young and healthy.

Every time I read about all the things you do in your garden, I imagine it. I never had the time to do all that but it just sounds so beautiful. I have a large raised garden bed coming. Actually, it should be here today. It might be too late to plant anything but I'm going to give it a shot. I can't put anything in the ground of my yard as there are too many lines for gas, internet and electric. I need to move!!!!

When I moved into this house many years ago, the builders had planted small bushes between the houses. I've always been the one to keep them trimmed but have been lax since they have now grown to be taller than me. No one seems to care so I'm giving up. When you get a moment, you can come and give them a trim with your trimmer. LOL

My calendar looks pretty full this week as well so I guess I better get to it. I must say, I do feel better at the end of the day when I feel like I've accomplished something don't you?

Take care of yourself the rest of the week but enjoy all your festivities.

Always
Your VW

Hi VW,

A lovely long post for me to disseminate, my garden is beautiful, a beautiful mess. I am very slowy geting thiings done, the trouble is just as I think that I am getting somewhere I get bogged down with my other interests, this week it is VE Day!!

I thought about buying a raised bed for part of my garden that would grow salad crops, but it is not suitable for using the soil.

It is not too late to plant things, try some lettuce, radish, spring onions, to name but a few sald crops, they do not take long to mature.

Expensive gardener to trim a few shrubs.lol!!

Love your "Young and Healthy", in fact my sister said that a press photo that she saw of me that I looked really well!!

Forgive more tonight as it is getting towards bedtime, for this elderly gentleman.

Have a great remainder of the week, and enjoy your raised bed.

Take care,

God Bless,

Your VH

Hello Stuart,

Your garden - rock garden, rose arch and the bed with Sammy's grave - seems to be coming along well. And we - at least here in Gloucestershire - are expecting another good week weather-wise, so you should be able to get some more gardening done on your free days.

It's great that you are thinking of using a site for which you only have the domain. You may want to go through some of the basic training again and if you are stuck getting your site just as you want it, I strongly recommend listening to Eric Cantu's Wordpress Wisdom videos. They are short and to the point and have probably saved me hours of frustration trying to figure things out.

Have a good week - you seem to have everything well planned out.

Isabella

Hi Isabella,

Some sound advice from you, for which I am grateful, regarding the site you could just right. I really need to get VE Day out of h way first, which whilst it is an honour to be involved is annoying in that it stops the work that I want to do.

Have a great rest of the week.

Stuart

Wow, a man named Stuart is on a roar. He is expeditiouslygetting things done. Would you like to have some additional work to do??? lol

It is great to see that you are getting things done especially getting rewarded into the Ambassador Level.

Congrats,

Rick∇

Many thanks for this Ricky, especially making me laugh on a Monday morning.

Take care,

Stuart
