3 Tips to Instantly Improve Content
There are a few tricks I learned from my college experience that will instantly improve content. It is important that we as website owners become authorities, and how we deliver the content changes everything.
Here are 3 things that I absolutely know will improve your writing.
1. Read your articles out loud!
Seriously, if you did just this one thing, your articles will be 10 times better. After you've written it all up and inserted your pictures, start at the beginning. When you read out loud you will catch things that do not make sense, or need to be worded differently. If you just read through with your eyes on the screen, you won't actually see the mistakes. Our eyes will process what we think we wrote, and not what we actually wrote. Read it out loud!!
2.Make the conversations clear.
When reading articles, I love when writers include a conversation as if they are the reader. This is a great tool, but if you don't do it right, it really tanks your authority.
Whenever you have a conversation, you need to use " " here is an example- "Rachel, really? why do I need to use fancy English stuff?" (When I answer in a conversational way, I need to hit enter and start on a new line)
"Because you will become a great authority, and google will like you and your readers will like you."
Speaking from a skeptical reader stand point is great, but if you don't reply appropriately, it won't make sense.
"Yeah right, Rachel. This will never work"! But, dear reader, I promise you it will.
Just adding " " to show when someone is talking makes the conversation easy to follow and understand.
3. Read you stuff out loud to a person next to you.
Having people here at WA check out your site is an invaluable tool, because they know how to help you website wise, and some reviews are great at constructive criticism. But reading it to someone sitting next to you will give you great insight.
Watch their face as you read, and see how they react. Ask them at the end of each section what that section was about, and what they learned. At the end of the article, ask them what they felt like the main focus was, did it make sense, and are there any spots overall that were unclear. This will help you see how your site is reading to a regular person who only really pays attention to content on sites.
These 3 tips will instantly bump your content from an ok article, to a great one. It is possible, you can get better at presenting your content. If you need some help or have questions, please feel free to get in touch. Good luck, I can't wait to hear how your content improves!!
