I Never Thought I would be the victim of what i am promoting

At my website I am promoting anxiety and panic attack articles and self help aids and programs to help ease hard times. I never thought I would have to deal with such a harassing situation of my own.

I have become a victim of cyber stalking from an ex co worker that I have not heard from in over ten years. She's extremely angry with me and has said horrible, threatening things about me online on Pinterest and because of this I have had to deactivate all of my accounts which is what the police told me to do when they came to my house yesterday.

What frightened me so much is that she poses as different people such as dead police officers or officers who are retired or who don't exist saying on forums and comment websites that I am a terrorist and on Pinterest she made a board saying home land terrorist with my picture on it. She has done this to me before 8 months ago and it's bad enough what she says about me and I can handle that but being accused of this is frightening , the police assured me that this would not be taken seriously due to anyone who had any common sense would know this person is mental. Needless to say I am writing this to give you my new Pinterest account so that you can follow me on the new account.

If any of you out there are writing articles or your "niche" has to do with cyber stalking or threats such as this, I would like to know this so I can visit your site. The police tell me that I cannot prove that it is her since she does not post in her name but I know it's her from the wording that is used and she mentions the place we worked at and the people. She blames me because they went out of business which I had nothing whatsoever to do so and was successful and she was not.

Please say a prayer for me. here is my new url to follow:

There are times I've lived my content Terry. After all we are the author of it!

Thanks for sharing.

There are some crazy people so be safe. jay

I am truly sorry to hear about your situation.

Legal processes have struggled to keep up with the virtual terrain, but online crime is still crime. All the same there has been some progress, resulting in action. Here's a recent example, described as a 'nightmare case':

http://www.chron.com/neighborhood/baytown-news/article/Baytown-woman-charged-with-framing-boyfriend-with-12396582.php

There most certainly ARE ways of proving that she is threatening you from sock-puppet accounts. All such activities leave a trail, and the accounts she used, were the details to be summoned for a court case, would reveal the details of her logins. Her ISP could be further forced for legal reasons to corroborate these.

I think your laws are probably similar to those in Australia, where it is illegal to use a telecommunications carrier to threaten people. It will also be against the TOS of her providers.

Please take a look at the following US Gov link on cyber harassment and see if you can action any of this advice:

https://www.stopbullying.gov/cyberbullying/how-to-report/index.html

You've also mentioned that your harasser has impersonated police officers. For your information, and also to mention when you next communicate with your local law enforcement. Please keep as much evidence as you can:

thank you so much for all this information and I am going to look into all of this and yes there are some really sick people out there

No worries. You take care of yourself, and be sure to ask for help quickly when you need it. xo

I actually found a lawyer here in the state I live in and in this state the crime was committed where I live, not in the state the person lives in Anyway, this lawyer specifically handles stuff like this and finds the person it is that is doing it, the only problem is, I need money in order to hire them ........that is the downfall. lack of funds.

Your lawyer needs money to enact civil proceedings. But your local law enforcement do not need to be paid to hear from victims of crime! You just keep reporting to them. Save all the evidence you have.

yeah but see according to local law enforcement no crime has been committed since we do not know who committed the crime. yes they will come to the house to listen to me and to read what I have but they don't have copies of it because in their eyes until we "know" who is doing this with proof they say they can't do a thing. It's very frustrating

They aren't giving you correct advice. It's a crime:

http://cyberstalking.web.unc.edu/federal-criminal-statutes/

And they have the power to demand evidence from the social media services being used to torment you, that would conclusively prove where and who was doing it. Social media would turn over IP addresses and logs. Then they would seek information from the ISP. You also have a reasonable suspicion as to who is doing it that allows an investigative lead.

It pains me to see law enforcement dragging their feet over what they think is a 'non-crime' when the statutes already clearly define and empower them to take action, and when there are so many cases in which such online activities (ignored by them) preceded other kinds of crime that could have been nipped in the bud.

I am also curious: are you aware of whether or not this person has any criminal/court history?
