Controlling Stress With Distractions

I have been a long time sufferer of Anxiety Disorder, Anxiety Attacks, Panic Disorder, Severely Stressed for many years waking up in the middle of the night not being able to shut off my mind and worrying constantly over everything in my life. I can tell you, it’s no way to live and plays havac with your health.

Constant worry is a bad cycle because it gets the point to where you wake up worried, you are worried during your awaken hours and then it’s time to go to bed and you are still worried. You go to sleep, only to repeat the cycle the next day, the next week, the next month, and all your life is filled with is stress and panic with no way out.

I woke up one morning tired of this cycle I was in and the things
I worried about were situatiaons that I simply could not and still
cannot control. I would tell myself this daily, every single time I
would go off worrying about work, about money, about how I was going to
pay my bills. ENOUGH, this is not living, it’s dying!
I reversed what I was saying to myself which was that I was doing the
best I could and that I could not control every single aspect of my life
and that I was missing out on life.

I decided to...

Stop and to take every single minute as an opportunity to change. I handled each moment and when I started to feel bad or nervous I would find one thing that would make me feel better or happy for the “moment” I do adult coloring using all types of color books which really was a very good stress reliever. Some of my work was beautiful and when i was upset I “scribbled color” of course that didn’t look as perfect as the rest of my work but what I’m getting at is that it really did help to make me feel better. Something so simple as coloring and I’m not saying that would be your cup of tea but I’m sure you can find some little thing to do that would help.

I also thought of things to look forward to whether it was to take a walk, write in my notebook, go out for a drive with my husband, or listen to my books which I love listening to mysteries. The point was when I got into my “attack” I took myself to center and concentrated on something I like to do.

Now I’m not saying it’s perfect or the perfect solution and yes while doing some of my favorite things I still had the anxiety and worry but was able to push it to the back of my mind and get through my days.

I wanted to do more since I loved to listen to books and decided to
check into self help techniques and yes I had a therapist who I saw from
time to time getting little results. I turned to subliminal hypnosis, relaxaction with essential oils, and self help to handle how to deal with stresss, anxiety, and panic attacks.
It’s a wonder what you can find online these days. For me, it was a
conbination of what I’m doing today which is listed in this article, it
was not just one thing but many that kept me balanced and feeling
better.

I will not say that I am 100 percent better because I still have my moments but I am so much better than what I was. Support from true friends and family who listened to me and even though they could not do anything about it the point was they were there for me.

So, I invite you to comment about the article or you can ask me questions. Perhaps you want to share what helps you to overcome stress and what works for you. Sometimes it is a good thing to show people that help is out there and that they are not alone.

Good day and thanks for the share. My best method to relax is driving down a country road with the music turned up. Jay
