I built a website, and it's looking good :)
I've been working on my website http://pookywelch.com.
There's still a lot of content that needs to be added, but I love the layout.
I'm having trouble deciding what my website is really about or who my target audience is. Or how to get my targeted audience to my site.
But I'm having fun so far! I'm really enjoying the work.

nice site! If I were you I'd be in the WAH forums posting like a mug with your website as your signature link... You could probably build a good following! If people start leaving comments/emailing you that's a good sign they'd probably like to be on your email list also.
Pooky, your target audience is people who want to work from home...however these are NOT people that are looking for a business opportunity...
They don't want to start a blog or any kind of website of their own...terms like "squeeze page" and "sales page" will make them run for the hills.
Most of your demographic will be stay at home moms with a couple young children running around the house...all they want is a "braindead easy" way to make some extra money online....kinda like punching in to work and doing the stuff they already know how to do....and the content on your site is pretty much exactly what they want to know.
That's why I think you should start posting in work at home forums with a siggy link. When you can, I highly recommend signing up for an autoresponder so you can start collecting emails.
Note: I'm not exactly sure of the siggy rules on the big WAH forums, so you'll have to look into that first.
Thanks so much, matchoo! I think you're totally right. You've given me a better perspective on who my target audience is. When you say "siggy link," do you mean that I should just put my website URL when I respond to other people in forums? Or is there something special that I need to do to create a siggy link? I'm trying to figure out if this is a term-of-art that I'm not understanding completely. :) Thanks so much. I'm a total newb, and I really appreciate your insight.
Congrats on the site, I'm loving the layout also!! Just wondering what types of jobs you do on the mechanical turk, since there are soooooo many to choose from.
I typically use http://www.reddit.com/r/HITsWorthTurkingFor and click on the recommended links to find the best HITs. The best HITs render about $0.10 per minute. That is not a significant amount of cash, but if you have time to spare, the cents add up pretty quickly. A lot of the HITs are fun, too! If you're active on the subreddit, you can also rack up additional revenue by posting your own HITs through AdF.ly. Let me know if you have anymore questions!
Hey Pooky, I checked out your site. You seem like you are having fun with this. You really should at least take that darn exam. I had to push my daughter to do this too. (different concentration but still a 6 hour exam). Don't make me come over there. (I have no idea where that is but noticed an unfamiliar language so I know you aren't down the street)
One thing I would recommend. Go to the link tracking over in the left menu and grab a link cloaker for your WA affiliate link. There are some hackers out there that may mess with your un-cloaked link. Then replace the link on your WA page with the cloaked link.
Thanks for the advice, Labman! I think the unfamiliar language you noticed was supposed to be the phonetic spelling of "beer money." :) I'm not exactly down the street from you. I'm in Queens! I am definitely going to take that exam in February.
I'm trying to figure out what a link cloaker is, but thanks for the heads up!
Hi Pooky. I took a look at your site and I think that you really do know who your target audience is: People who want to earn some pocket money online. I think you are off to a great start. When you are ready, you can start a Twitter and Facebook account where you will develop a loyal following if you keep adding options. How can you make money with the site? Try Adsense ads and affiliate programs like Amazon.com to start with. I'd really like more information about Amazon Mechanical Turk. I admit I've never heard of it and don't completely understand it. $50/week would be a welcome addition to many household incomes.
Thanks so much, Georganne! Amazon Mechanical Turk is a great site where you rack up money by participating in little tasks, like answering academic surveys for universities or completing transcriptions. The tasks vary, but it's really easy to make pocket money. I'm going to write an article soon on how to maximize the Mechanical Turk experience. I'll let you know when I publish it!
Thanks for referring me to Adsense! I'm going to work on incorporating it into the site. I really appreciate your feedback :)
Hi Georgeanne, I've tried Mechanical Turk in the past and yes you do make money but you do have to do a lot of little tasks to make anything. It's not bad but you can go to rat race rebellion and make more. Try it and let me know about your experiences.
The Turk tasks can get a bit pesky, even boring. But I think it's one of the easiest ways to make a buck on the internet if you're looking for a quick way to do it! I've been really active on Reddit and its subreddits, where members recommend the best tasks to do. By following other people's suggestions, you don't have to waste too much time looking for the good ones :)

I would blog about my hobbies. Im doing that right now on a blog...homeschool mainly. Even though I do have experience making money online, its a very hard thing to promote.
