To Sir, with love!
This song has been bashing around in my head for days! So in an attempt to get it out I decided to google the lyrics. No answers there.
So I started thinking about the movie. I remember watching it as a teenager in the 1970s. It starred Sydney Poitier and Lulu and is the story of a teacher who goes into a school and takes on a challenging group of children. The story has been rehashed a couple of times.
Anyway, at the end of the film, Lulu starts to sing the song, "To Sir, with love!"
The song is about being grateful to someone who has taken you from one state of mind to another. She sings how she has been taken from "crayons to perfume" and tries to find a way to show her gratitude. It got me to thinking, why is this song bashing around inside my head. Who do I need to feel grateful for?
My wife: who puts up with all my 'little' projects and hours spent on the computer when I could be doing other things. Yes
My kids: who are now spreading their wings and beginning their own adventures. Yes
My friends: Who know the right time to ring me and say "What are you doing?" Yes
My work colleagues: Who sometimes provide me with challenging problems to work out? Yes
The creators of the internet: Who have given me the opportunity to "waste" so many hours doing things? Yes
Wealthy Affiliates: Who are taking me from "crayons to perfume". Yep
Got it!
Thanks Kyle and Carson, and the rest of the WA community!
For "teaching me right from wrong .. weak from strong ... that's a lot to learn"
