another fire! my beautiful mountains. (me crying)
It was just a week ago that we got to enjoy our beautiful mountains and now it is on fire! Just a few short miles down the hill from where these photos were taken is burning - where I camp, hike, crawl around the mountains in the jeep.... where we picked wild strawberries, thimble berries and gooseberries just a few short weeks ago is burning like crazy.
It is up to 1.000 acres with zero containment. My heart is sad today - love the beauty of where I live.... and the area that is on fire is one I have spent a lot of time in from my childhood till now....
Trying to work, but all I can manage today is boohooing over my mountains being destroyed. Thankful they finally got crews there to fight it. For those of you who pray, please agree with me in prayer that it is put out quickly and nobody gets hurt! the mountains are steep and can be quite dangerous.....
We won't be camping again this summer - so will be strange ending to summer for us as we usually end with a big camping trip with all the kids and a couple friends.... not this year.
UPDATE: the fire is up to 6,000 acres... one of my favorite spots gone and others threatened. Old resort that my grandparents went to is in danger..... broken hearts happening in our house. My kids are sad, my husband is sad.... zero containment so who knows how much more will burn.

Oh, Corey. I'm so sorry. My heart hurts for you and the kids this morning. I know this is awful heartbreaking and scary. You will be in my prayers.

Hi, Corey. I know how you feel, but yours is a bit more personal. Two years ago NC had a lot of fires, and I think 14 people were killed in Gatlinburg, TN, which is about 35 miles from me. There were several different fires around the state, but the one that started in Smoky Mountain National Park was arson, started by 2 adolescents. It could easily have come this way instead of going to TN, depending on the wind. I'm so sorry your special place is in flames! Carol
It is scary no matter what. Especially when it set on purpose... and worse when people die, so awful. Fires are just awful - but yes, so much life lived there, breaking my heart to see it burning up :(

Fire is so unforgiving!!! These pictures are so beautiful!!! I live here in Texas and right now we're not dealing with fire as much as EXTREME HEAT!!! Like 115* Even the pool was too hot to swim in!!

It looks like the area in Southern California, above where I spent my a good share of my school years and younger adult life. That mountain, may be the same one you're talking about, although there are so many fires burning all along California. Fire is devastating, especially when the one I'm talking about was started by a man throwing flares into the dry brush.
So very sad!

This is About an hour from Yosemite - not SoCal.... but yes, Fire is awful and scary.... hope we don’t lose too much of our beautiful mountain :(
it is.... so much of my life lived up in those mountains... just praying they get it out quickly. my heart is broken...
