Speaking of hurricanes, which we seem to have had our share of this season, I recently heard a story about an athletic 19-year-old, back in 1995, who was a talented swimmer, and apparently had quite a promising future in the sport.
He was well over 6 1/2 feet tall, with wingspan to match, and hailed from the Virgin Islands.
In September of that year, Hurricane Marilyn, a category 3 storm, raged through the boy's homeland.
It was the most powerful storm to hit the Virgin Islands since Hurricane Hugo in 1989.
The young man was forced to switch from swimming to basketball, simply because the swimming pool he worked out in was destroyed by the storm.
The young man in question was none other than Tim Duncan, who grew to the towering height of 6' 11" and had a stellar 19-year career with the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association!
The following are highlights and awards from Duncan's amazing career...
5-time NBA champion...
3-time NBA finals MVP...
2-time NBA Most Valuable Player...
15-time NBA All Star...
NBA All-Star Game MVP...
10-time All-NBA First Team...
3-time All-NBA Second Team...

Here are some quotes from NBA superstar Tim Duncan:
"Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is best."
"I enjoy jokes, smiling, and making people smile. I may be a little different, but that's OK, who wants to be normal anyway?"
"I'm surrounded by nothing but great people. I've been blessed with that, so really, I've got no choice but to be an all-around good person."
